   The complete physiological process by which the human body or any organism obtains the food that
is necessary for its development and growth is defined as nutrition. Eating food is not sufficient as it
has to be broken down and turned into energy for any organism to carry on. This is more like a
general definition of nutrition for the animal kingdom.

The Human Definition

 Nutrition, for humans, is an important process since it is aimed at the reconstruction of tissues with the
aid of food and other supplies. The origin of the word nutrition is from the Latin world nutritio or French
word nutrition—both meaning sustenance. Without this so-called sustenance, no human being will be
able to go on living and he would cease to grow. As a human being is continuously deprived of food,
he would soon weaken and eventually die.

 Correct or proper nutrition is more than just being physically fit. There are more aspects to proper
nutrition such as having a very optimistic view on one’s life and have a healthy and spiritual mind. This
justifies the saying—a healthy mind in a healthy body.

 A body that is not happy would lead into a mind that is not able to think clearly. As stress sinks in, it
would finally create a twisted view of one’s self and how you view life in general. Nutrition is what fuels
all the mechanisms in your body and when this is neglected, dire consequences are sure to follow.

 Nowadays, where stressful living is quite common, it is more important to live a balanced life and get
rid of the foods that can do damage to your body. Replacing junk food with healthy food would be one
of the most important decisions that you have to make in your entire life.

Promoting Proper Nutrition

 ADA or The American Dietetic Association is the nation’s biggest organization of nutrition experts and
professionals. This group has about 65,000 members and they all aim at promoting healthy nutrition.
These experts give advice to people who want to have a go at changing their lifestyles for the better.
All members of the ADA are food and nutrition specialists and they put all the theories that they have
learned into practical solutions.

 The appearance of junk food in the market for the last few decades has proven to be an almost
insurmountable task for nutrition experts. Incorrect nutrition (which is unfortunately more common

 The food your child eats is important not only now but also for the rest of his or her life. A small child is
going to need various types of foods for energy to play, grow, and to build a healthy body. Muscles and
bones are forming over the first fifteen years of life, and when eating the right types of foods and
including smart nutrition your child is more likely to avoid sickness and to ward off some types of
disease.     Your child’s nutrition     Your child’s nutrition is going to start with you. You child is going to
see what foods you eat, and when you are more likely to eat them, and your child is going to build their
own habits from those habits he or she sees you following. If you eat breakfast on the go, all the time,
your child will feel this is normal and ok, but you should be sitting down to a breakfast every morning
for good nutrition basics. Even if you are eating a bowl of cereal or you are enjoying a glass of juice,
taking five minutes will encourage better eating habits.         Nutrition for your child’s health  Healthy
beginnings start with fruits, vegetables and good portions of meats. The food pyramid is going to be
important in the early stages of life so that your child will learn to eat many types of foods, and not only
the foods they like the taste and looks of. Giving your child many options in life will help them pick
foods that are better for them in the long run. Healthy children are not going to eat burgers and fries for
every meal, but they will have a well-rounded life with nutrition builders such as fruits, vegetables,
meat, and variations of these builders.       Teaching good habits for your child’s nutrition awareness will
start with reading labels. Learn about what preservatives and additives are in some of the foods you
are eating, and then talk about these with your child as they grow. Include foods that are all natural, or
