City of Newark, PSE&G Unveil ‘Advantage Newark’
New Multimedia Campaign To Promote Business Investment

NEWARK, NJ – Today, the City of Newark and PSEG Area Development LLC unveiled a new
multimedia campaign, Advantage Newark, which is designed to attract new and increased
investment and positive attention to the City of Newark. The campaign made its first full public
debut at 10 a.m. at the Robert Treat Hotel at 50 Park Place in the Crystal Ballroom, following a
Newark Regional Business Partnership breakfast meeting.

“The City of Newark, through our partnerships with a number of private and non-profit
organizations, residents, and other community stakeholders, have made – and continue to make –
great strides in the revitalization of our great city,” said Mayor Cory A. Booker. “Now, with
Advantage Newark, we are afforded the opportunity to promote these successes to various entities
throughout the State and shed light on the advantages of doing business in the City of Newark.”

Advantage Newark is a $150,000 project mostly underwritten by PSEG Area Development LLC
but also supported by an array of Newark-based civic and corporate sponsors. Staff from the City
of Newark – in particular, Deputy Mayor Stefan Pryor – as well as the Newark Urban Enterprise
Zone (UEZ) and Brick City Development Corporation (BCDC) helped to guide research for and
the message of the project.
“Our company has a long tradition of supporting intelligent economic growth in New Jersey,”
said Joseph A. Forline, PSE&G vice president-customer operations. “We recognize the
importance of encouraging positive change in our urban centers and are pleased to partner with
the City and other Advantage Newark sponsors to help promote investment in the city.”

The cornerstone of the project is a handsome, full-colored, glossy, printed information package
which includes a fold-out map of the downtown and detailed descriptions of Newark’s assets,
including its unparalleled highway, air and rail connections; its pool of nearly 60,000 college
students and professors; the large office worker population; aggressive and innovative state and
local financial incentives; and unrivaled cultural and entertainment assets such as the Newark
Museum, NJPAC, the Prudential Center and a booming arts scene.

Each element of the Advantage Newark package includes detailed contact information for each
of the City agencies involved as well as for PSEG Area Development, the economic
development arm of Public Service Electric and Gas Company (PSE&G).

The print packages will be distributed to and through real estate brokers, City staffers and
PSE&G. PSEG Area Development LLC is preparing a highly targeted direct mailing to large
office tenants in Manhattan whose leases are soon to expire, as well as major national site
location consultants. PSEG Area Development LLC and the City of Newark will also
aggressively market the campaign at trade shows including the upcoming CoreNet Global
Summit in San Diego this May where real estate executives from Fortune and Global 1000
companies will be gathering the necessary information to make major site location decisions.

“This marketing campaign highlights Newark’s many advantages: our incomparable
infrastructure, splendid cultural assets, and abundant development opportunities. The important
contributions made by PSE&G, City agencies, BCDC, and the business community to the
development of this next phase of the Advantage Newark campaign will arm us with high quality
materials that promote our city in a potent way,” reported Deputy Mayor Stefan Pryor.
“Newark is hot and this campaign is a chance for us to capture some of that heat and translate it
into more bricks and mortar projects, more office tenants, more businesses,” added Timothy R.
Comerford, Manager, PSEG Area Development LLC.

The civic organizations, property owners, and real estate brokers and developers whose
sponsorship helped cover costs of the project are featured in print brochures inserted in the
Advantage Newark package. These include The Berger Organization, Cogswell Realty Group,
Assurance Realty Group and Assurance Title Services, Matrix Development Group, Advance
Realty Group, Heritage Capital Group, RBH Group, the Newark Alliance, the Newark
Downtown District, Newwork, and Sills Cummis & Gross.

The information contained in the print package is also being adapted for the Internet and will be
available today at and CDs
containing PDFs of the Advantage Newark map and inserts are also available for distribution.

Research, writing, editing and overall management of the Advantage Newark project was
performed by Square Foot LLC, a Newark-based firm that specializes in economic development.
Square Foot is a licensed NJ real estate brokerage firm. The campaign was designed by Kiernan
Thompson and Newwork LLC.
