Fall Maintenance Tips for Your Home
By Steven D. Yudell All Trades Maintenance and Repairs
Seasonal residents typically come back to Florida to a house or condo that’s been closed for months. It’s a good practice to check the various aspects of your home to make sure everything is in proper working order. Below is a quick check list to make sure your dwelling is safe and ready for occupying.
Check all window and door locks for proper operation. Check for leaks around sinks, toilets, water heater, and washing machine hoses. Review your fire escape plan with your family. Check/replace the batteries in your smoke detector and carbon monoxide alarms. Check that garage door rollers, tracks, wheels/axles are lubricated and aligned. Replace your furnace filter and have a professional check your heating system. Clean lint from the dryer vent and replace any plastic hoses with a metalized one. Remove bird nests from chimney flues and outdoor electrical fixtures.
Make sure that the caulking/grout around your bathroom fixtures is in good condition.
Clean your dishwasher with a concentrated cleaner to remove soap buildup.
Have the items above and more checked for the just the cost of a service call.
