We will evaluate this request as part of the update of the City
Bikeway Master Plan. The update of the master plan is
currently underway and a draft will be made available to the
public in October 2009.
Per service request 09-00069196: An investigation was
conducted on 3/17/09 by 12:00 pm at 2900 Chestnut between
Rockmead and St. Andrews in reference to Lane Lines. This
is a 27' wide residential street. Investigation revealed existing
double yellow center line with white buttons on Chestnut from
the 1900 (Chestnut @ St. Andrews) to the 2300 block. There
are also continuing existing white buttons center line from the
2300 block to where Chestnut intersects with Rockmead. No
mobility or visibility of this project is in
The estimated cost problem was noted.excess of
$1,000,000.00. The customer has been notified that this
project would have to be funded as a CIP project.

We were advised that this is not a SNAP item. Street
Sweeping is a finance issue. The City of Houston PWE Dept.
is only budgeted to sweep major thoroughfares in the City of
Houston four times per year. To alter this program is getting
more funding put in the budget to do more sweeping. PWE
has briefed Council Member Mike Sullivan on this issue.
