   HQ ARPC PROVIDES MEMBERS CALLED OR
    ORDERED TO ACTIVE DUTY IN SUPPORT OF A
    CONTINGENCY OPERATION, INFORMATION
    EXPLAINING THE TRS BENEFIT. How?

   ARPC provides Reserve component members an opportunity
    to enter into an agreement to serve continuously in the
    Selected Reserve for a period of one or more whole years for
    TRS eligibility prior to release from active duty. How?

       By using the Defense Manpower Data Center (DMDC) web
        application on the Guard/Reserve Portal to input eligibility.

       Members are required to complete the web application (DD
        Form 2895), within 90 days after being released from
        contingency orders, to show intent to remain in the
        Selected Reserve. (The completed form may be e-mailed or
        faxed). After establishing intent, members must execute
        the agreement within 120 days after release from active
        duty. After 120 Days, Tier 1 is no longer available.

   ARPC records and documents the service member’s
    decision to accept or decline to agree to participate
    in the Selected Reserve for a period of one or more
    whole years for TRS coverage. How?
       ARPC WILL USE SOURCE DOCUMENTS (DD Form 214
        – ORDERS) to determine the service member’s
        eligibility for TRS, the period of Selected Reserve
        obligation, and the maximum period of coverage for
        TRS. ARPC shall submit TRS eligibility information to
        the Defense Enrollment Eligibility Reporting System
        (DEERS).

                           TRS TIERS 2 and 3

   Communication and Implementation Plans for Tiers
    2 and 3 are identical to Tier 1.

   Beyond 120 days after being released from
    contingency orders, members can opt for Tier 2 if
    the Selected Reserve Member is an eligible
    unemployment compensation recipient under State
    law for any day of the month for which TRS Tier 2 is
    provided; is not eligible for an employer sponsored
    health plan; or is self-employed. (Members must
    show required documentation to certify eligibility).

                                      TRS TIER 3

   MAY be purchased by members who are not eligible
    for or who have not elected to purchase TRS Tier 1
    or Tier 2 health care coverage.
   ELIGIBILITY: CONTINGENT upon the member
    entering into an agreement to serve continuously in
    the Selected Reserve for the period of TRS
    coverage.

   NOTE: Initial TRS Tier 2 and 3 coverage is available
    for purchase in 2006 from 1 Oct through 31 Dec.
    Certification period: 1 June through 31 August.

   TERMINATION OF COVERAGE


on the first day of the month following the date
the member no longer meets the eligible criteria
for TRS 2.

enlistment if the member fails to extend or
reenlist in order to complete the period of service
specified in the DD Form 2895.

                          ARPC RESPONSIBILITIES
   ARPC/DPS: The ARPC Contact Center will be responsible for:
      Verifying eligibility against a source document order with
       inclusive dates, a DD Form 214, or verification using MIL-PDS.
      Updating the DMDC website after verifying eligibility of the
       member.
      Filing and Retaining DD Form 2895 for the duration of the
       coverage being elected.
      Training internally to HQ ARPC to members of the DPS
       Directorate, the Entitlements Division, and Cadre Team.
         Base level personnel have the option of contacting HQ ARPC with
          questions in addition to using the power point presentation as an
          educational tool.
         Information provided to base personnel will direct that all questions be
          referred to HQ ARPC via web support or by calling 1-800-525-0102.
