							Using your Automated Biweekly Timesheet
How Do I Use the Automated Timesheet?

The automated timesheet performs its calculations when the Fill Fields button is clicked. When you click the Fill Fields button, the timesheet uses the date you entered in the “Work Period Beginning” field to compute and enter the “Work Period Ending” date, as well as the dates in the “Hours Worked” section. The timesheet will also check the times in the “Hours Worked” section, add them up, and enter daily and weekly totals in the appropriate form fields. Any changes you make to the timesheet after you click the Fill Fields button will not be reflected in the shaded form fields until you click the Fill Fields button again.
What Time Formats Can I Use?

entered is not in one of the formats listed above, or the time is more than 24 hours. If the values entered for a given day are, as a group, physically impossible (you have overlapping times, you claimed more than 2 4 hours of time worked in a day, you said you worked from 8 to 5 instead of 8 to 17, etc.) you will see an error message and the automated timesheet will insert the error code “ER” in the form fields where the daily total would go and where the weekly total would go. Error messages will only show once, but the error code will remain until the problem is fixed and the Fill Fields button is clicked.

The automation of the Biweekly Timesheet and the accompanying help file were done by Rebecca O’Connell of the Materials Science and Engineering Department.

The number of hours worked in a day can be entered in the timesheet in am/pm format, decimal format, or military time. Hours worked are recorded in fifteen minute increments. If no “am” or “pm” is added after a time, the automated timesheet assumes that the time is based on a 24 hour clock. “5:00,” for example, will be interpreted as 5:00 am, not 5:00 pm, even if it is entered in the “Out” column. Examples of Correct Formats For five thirty in the afternoon: 5:30 pm 5:30 p 5.5 PM 17.5 17:30
What Happens If Something Goes Wrong?

The automated timesheet will return an error message and add the error code “ER” to a “Time In” or “Time Out” form field if the value
