The purpose of this Policy Summary is to help you understand the insurance by setting out the significant features, benefits, limitations and exclusions. You still need to read the Policy Wording for a full description of the terms of the insurance, including the policy definitions. This Policy Summary does not form part of the Policy Wording.

Purpose of the insurance
This insurance cover provides financial protection and medical assistance for your trip.
Significant product features, benefits and exclusions
The levels of cover which apply to your Policy are set out in the Table of Benefits on page 2 of your Policy Wording. Certain Sections of your Policy carry an excess (usually £50), which means that you have to pay this sum per person, per incident if you claim (although this is generally limited to two excesses per family, regardless of the number of claimants). The table overleaf sets out the significant benefits and exclusions of your Policy. The Policy includes many other benefits, conditions and exclusions. Please read your Policy Wording to make sure that the cover is suitable for you.

Medical conditions existing prior to purchasing or renewing this insurance No cover is available for claims which arise from or result from a trip that you take or, any person who might not be travelling with you but whose well being your trip may depend on, if: 1. You are aware of any medical condition or set of circumstances which could reasonably be expected to give rise to a claim; or 2. If you or they - Suffer from or have suffered from any diagnosed psychological or psychiatric disorder, anxiety or depression - Are receiving or awaiting consultation, investigation or treatment in a hospital or nursing home - Are travelling against medical advice or with the purpose of obtaining medical treatment abroad - Will be more than 24 weeks pregnant at the date of arrival home - Have been given a terminal prognosis

No cover is available for claims relating to medical conditions which you or any person who might not be travelling with you but whose well being your trip may depend on are aware of before the cover started unless the medical condition falls within the criteria outlined in the Policy Wording. The geographical area which you are entitled to travel to is shown on your Schedule of Insurance. No cover is provided under this policy for any trip in, to or through Afghanistan, Cuba, Iraq, Lebanon, Liberia, Libya or Sudan. Cancelling and Cutting Short Your Holiday. Up to £5,000
Features & benefits
Provides cover for travel and accommodation expenses which you have paid for or have agreed to pay for under a contract and which you cannot get back if you cancel or cut short your trip.
Limits and exclusions
To be able to claim, the reason why the trip is being cancelled or cut short must be necessary and unavoidable and must fall into one of the reasons listed in the Policy. For example, if a person insured under this policy becomes ill or is injured or dies. An excess of £50 per insured person applies (up to a maximum of £100 per family) or £10 per insured person if only a deposit has been paid (up to a maximum of £20 per family).

If you have purchased a Single trip policy this means you are covered for one trip of up to a maximum of 185 days. The start and end dates of your insurance trip are set out on your Schedule of Insurance.

Annual multi-trip
If you have purchased an Annual multi-trip policy this means you are covered for as many trips as you like within the period of insurance, provided no single trip exceeds 2 months. In return for additional premium, cover for Winter Sports can also be provided for up to 17 days within the period of insurance.
Cover for cancellation begins when you book your trip or pay the insurance premium, whichever is the later. Cover for all other sections begins from the time you leave your home address, or your service accommodation in your country of domicile, or from the start date shown on your Schedule of Insurance, whichever is the later. Cover under your policy ends on the date you return to your home address, or your service accommodation in your country of domicile or to the end of the period shown on your Schedule of Insurance, whichever is earlier.

Your cancellation rights
You have the statutory right (under Financial Services Authority rules) to cancel your policy within 14 days ‘cooling off period’ of receipt of your policy documentation. If you wish to do so you will be entitled to a full refund of the premium paid - within 30 days from the date we receive the notice of the cancellation from you - provided you have not travelled, and there has been no claim or incident likely to give rise to a claim. If you have travelled or made a claim during the cooling off period or there has been an incident likely to give rise to a claim then we will only make a pro rata refund based on the time you have been insured. Are we covered by the Financial Services Compensation Scheme (FSCS)?
We are covered by the FSCS. You may be entitled to compensation from the scheme if we cannot meet our financial obligations. A claim under the contract of general insurance is covered for 100% of the first £2,000 and 90% of the remainder of the claim without any upper limit.
