Catalog Description:      The focus of this course is assisting LPN’s admitted to the second year of the
                          nursing program to meet program requirements. Use of the nursing process,
                          critical thinking, and completion of nursing skills is emphasized.

Students must achieve a cumulative minimum of 75% on tests and quizzes before points on other activities
will be added to the total score. All tests must be completed at the assigned time to avoid a 5% penalty.

ATI PN Comprehensive Predictor:                Students must complete the PN Comprehensive Predictor as a
means of identifying areas requiring further study prior to completing the NCLEX-PN. No minimum score
is required. The results of the testing will be reviewed with the student at ICS conference.

ATI PN Management Test:             An ATI on-line unsecured test score of 90% must be submitted prior to
taking the scheduled Proctored ATI Management test. A 55 percentile score must be achieved on the
proctored test. The proctored ATI Management test replaces the unit test for this content area. Failure to
achieve the designated percentile will require remediation.. ..

Point allocation for ATI Proctored tests will be figured on a curve scale based on the highest percentile
achieved within the class.

Students must complete the non-proctored PN Medical - Surgical Nursing test prior to completing the
Comprehensive Predictor. Instructions for completing the non-proctored Medical - Surgical Test will be
provided during the first week of the quarter.

A learning packet will be provided for each student prior to the beginning of each content area. Students
are expected to review the learning packet, reading assignment and vocabulary prior to class. Discussions,
quizzes and activities will assume the student has prepared for the content. Quizzes and activities will be in
a variety of formats.

NURS 104 students must complete all activities including multiple-choice tests to achieve a passing grade.
All tests and quizzes will be graded for feedback only. A final grade of pass/fail is based solely on
participation and attendance.

NURS 104 students are required to complete (3) one 100 questions tests from NCLEX Review 2000
computer test bank. Test content is as follows: Fundamentals of Nursing - 100 questions,
Maternal/Newborn & Pediatrics - 100 questions, and Medical/Surgical Nursing - 100 questions.
A score of 50% or better is required on each test. A print-out showing completion of each test is due by
1630 hours on July 28th.
