Notes:
1) This FreshMaps installation is only intended for users who do NOT have a computer running
Windows XP or Windows Vista. If you do indeed have a computer with one of these operating
systems, please download and install the NAVIGON Fresh application at www.navigonusa.com/fresh
2) This FreshMap is also not compatible with any European-spec models. Performing this update will
cause you to lose your European maps.
Overview
This FreshMap installation is provided to customers who have purchased and activated a FreshMap
subscription. If you have not registered your device and activated your subscription, you will be
required to do so before downloading.
PLEASE READ ALL INSTRUCTIONS COMPLETELY BEFORE ATTEMPTING TO UPDATE YOUR DEVICE.

Verify your Device
1) Prior to downloading the latest FreshMap, please confirm which product you own. You can
verify this by checking the Product Information screen. This can be accessed by selecting
Options -> Settings -> Options -> Product Information from the Main Menu. (21x0max devices
just tap Options -> Product Information)
2) The first line of the Product Information data will indicate which product you own. (Your
information may be slightly different, depending on your software revision and device)
This FreshMap update is not compatible with any NAVIGON products purchased outside of
North America. Performing this update on a device purchased elsewhere could make your
device inoperable.
Downloading your FreshMap
The FreshMap update is approximately 2GB in size so a high-speed Internet connection is
recommended. During the download your computer could be occupied for 5 hours or more,
depending on your connection speed. Please plan accordingly.
For a faster download, you may want to use a download management tool, such as the free tools
from these sites:
• http://freedownloadmanager.org
• http://www.downthemall.net/
Using a download management tool could help your download complete successfully and allow you
to resume the download in the event of an intermittent connection.
1) FreshMap updates are available through the MyNAVIGON section of the NAVIGON US website.
You can get there by clicking here: https://www.NAVIGON.com/site/us/en/my_NAVIGON/.
2) Login with your existing password and login or create a new account if needed.
3) Under the “My Products” section, click the “Software Update” link in the upper left-hand corner
of the page.

4) Choose the “Get your update here” link
5) Click the picture associated with your device to begin the download.
6) When prompted, save the downloaded file to your computer’s desktop.
Unzipping the FreshMap
1) The FreshMap update is delivered as a ZIP file and needs to be unzipped prior to transferring to
your SD Card. On a Windows computer, double-click the ZIP file to unzip the archive.
2) Once you have unzipped the file, you should have a new folder on your desktop with the same
name as the ZIP file.
Installing the FreshMap
CAUTION: You will lose all previous destinations when you delete the existing files. If you are
comfortable with manually moving files, see the instructions below for advanced users for steps to
preserve these values.
The FreshMap installation process may occupy your computer for 1 hour or longer. Please plan
accordingly.
1) To install the FreshMap to your device, you will need to use an external SD Card reader. SD Card
readers may be purchased at any electronics retailer. Fully power off your device then remove
the SD card and insert it into an SD Card Reader attached to your computer.

2) When your SD Card is connected to your computer, it will appear as a new drive on your
computer.
3) Double-click on the new drive to view the contents of the SD Card
4) NAVIGON recommends making a copy of your SD card, prior to installing the update. Simply
copy all of the files from the new drive into a backup folder on your computer.
5) Delete the existing files from your SD Card.
CAUTION: You will lose all previous destinations when you delete the existing MN6 folder. If
you are comfortable with manually moving files, see the instructions below for advanced
users for steps to preserve these values.
6) For Macintosh users, you should now empty the trash can, to fully remove the deleted files from
the SD card. Please hold down the ‘option’ key while selecting “empty trash.”
7) Open the new folder that you extracted from the ZIP file
8) Copy/Paste the new files that you downloaded and extracted from the zip onto the SD Card.
9) Wait for the files to copy over to the device/SD Card. This can take up to 30 minutes so please
plan accordingly.
10) When the progress bar reaches 100%, eject your SD card reader from your computer. You may
now re-insert the SD card into your device.
11) Turn the device back on by pressing and holding the POWER button for 2 seconds.
Preserving existing user settings and destinations (Advanced users only)
1) These steps do NOT apply to 2100max or 2120max devices! You are getting an upgrade to
MN7 software and cannot preserve your user settings with this upgrade!
2) Your NAVIGON device saves user data in a series of files and folders on your SD card. If you wish
to retain these values, you will need to copy the existing files from the backup copy of your
original MN6 folder.
3) The following files and folders will need to be copied from your original MN6 folder and placed
into the new MN6 folder:
Settings\Recent.storage
Settings\Favorites.storage
Settings\Routes folder
Settings\Speech Recognition folder (7100 devices only)
LogBook folder

I’ve installed the FreshMap but now my device is stuck at the NAVIGON startup page. What can I do?
Each NAVIGON model uses a unique version of the FreshMap package. Make sure that you
downloaded the proper FreshMap for your model and follow the installation steps listed above.

I have a PC that runs Windows XP or Windows Vista. How can I install the FreshMap?
Windows users have a different procedure for installing FreshMap update. Please follow the
Windows installation instructions available from the MyNAVIGON website.
I have a device and I purchased the Lifetime Traffic and/or Zagat accessory features. Will these still be
available if I upgrade to the FreshMap?
Yes, all accessory features will still operate with the FreshMap. There is no need for you to
purchase and/or activate these features a second time.
I have a device and it does not include a USB cable. Can I use any USB cable?
Any USB cable that includes a TYPE-A connector and a MINI-B connector (shown below) can be
used with any NAVIGON device. These can be purchased online at our Online Shop, under
“accessories”: http://navigonusa.com/buy/.
