                           Child Care Services (Outside School Hours Care) Regulations 2006



 Regular use of the following self-assessment checklist will assist you to check your centres’
 compliance with the Child Care Services (Outside School Hours Care) Regulations 2006.

 Answering ‘Yes’ to each of the following questions does not guarantee that you will satisfy all the
 requirements a licensing visit, but that you are more likely to do so. If you identify any areas that
 you need some advice or assistance with, please contact your local Children’s Services Officer.

 Please note, this checklist is not legal advice. It is strongly recommended that you always refer to
 the complete version of the Child Care Services (Outside School Hours Care) Regulations 2006 for
 more information.

 Regulation 35 – Cleanliness, maintenance and

      with the manufacturer’s instruction?
      Are all smoke and fire detection devices                                 
      maintained in working order?
      TIP: Check your batteries are in working order.

 Regulation 37 – Animals on place
      If you have any animals or birds on your                                  
      premises, are they clean and healthy?
      Does your animal or bird have an area where it                            
      can be kept separate and apart from the
      children?
 Regulation 38 – Place not to be used as a
 residence
      Can you confirm that the place is not used as a                           
      residence?
 Regulation 39 – People convicted of a prescribed
 offence banned from place
      If you expect to have a person at the place                               
      convicted of an offence and who does not have
      a current assessment notice, while children are
      attending a care session, have you applied for
      approval from the CEO (Department for
      Communities)?
 Regulation 40 – Application to modify the place
      Are you aware that you need to obtain written                             
      approval from the CEO before commencing a
      modification and the application must be lodged
      with the CEO 30 days before the proposed
      modification is expected to begin?
