National Breast Cancer Foundation announce Career Fellowship award

The National Breast Cancer Foundation (NBCF) is pleased to announce a new NBCF Career
Fellowship award, designed to attract and retain the best minds in the field of breast cancer
research. Applications close on June 6, 2008 and the Career Fellowship will commence in 2009.

The award will provide individuals across all research disciplines the opportunity to enhance their
scientific capabilities and specific research interests, while advancing innovation in breast cancer
research.

Awards are open to individuals with a doctorate degree and/or a professional qualification
including (but not exclusive to) nursing, psychology, public health, medicine, physiotherapy,
veterinary science, social work, pharmacy, engineering and occupational therapy, obtained from
an accredited institution or equivalent.

In addition, applicants who have at least eight subsequent years of research or professional
experience and who have progressed to the stage of independent investigator are eligible to
apply. It is anticipated that Australians living abroad may be encouraged to apply, with the view
to establishing a research team in Australia.

Applicants will be expected to demonstrate world class standards of achievement and the
expertise, vision and capacity to lead high performing teams that will produce outstanding
research outcomes.

The aims of the scheme are to:

    • Support the most outstanding and creative breast cancer researchers across the range of
disciplines in biomedical, clinical, health services and public health research
    • Foster the expansion of the scale and scope of breast cancer research
    • Build excellent research teams in Australia, foster mentoring and collaboration and
        provide opportunities for talented researchers
    • Undertake research that is of major importance, potentially high impact and of significant
        benefit to Australians

The Career Fellowship is an award to support the salary and research of first class researchers
with a vision to expand the scale and scope of breast cancer research. Four NBCF Career
Fellowships are available. The maximum funding available for each Career Fellowship is
$200,000 per annum over five years.

The Application Package, Guidelines and further information may be obtained from the Research
