                                                                     EduRoam Wireless Network
                                                                                                          using an iphone

General Information
To access an Eduroam Wireless Network, you must first be at an EduRoam enable Institution and not on a CSU campus.
The instructions below will guide you through the Configuration and access steps to connecting to an EduRoam Wireless Network.
Note: that some EduRoam institutions only allow VPN access back to CSU whilst others also allow Internet traffic.

Requirements
    •   Your CSU Username and Password
    •   iPhone or iPod Touch with foirmware version 2.0 or greater



Section 1 - Connecting to the CSU Eduroam Wireless Network
Step 1
You need to connect to the eduroam wireless network,
goto “Settings” then “Wi-Fi”
You should then see the available wireless networks
Step 2
Connect to the “eduroam” network and enter in your CSU
username and password details

Your eduroam username is in the format of
“username@csu.edu.au” – eg: jbloggs@csu.edu.au




Step 3
You’ll be prompted with a certificate for “wireless.csu.edu.au”,
simply click “Accept”
Step 4
You will return to the Wi-Fi Networks screen.
This should show that you are now connected to the
“eduroam” network

This is shown by the “tick” next to the eduroam network

Getting Started
To access your Email from your iphone/ipod touch we’d prefer that you connect your device onto the wireless network first.
To do this, you must first have your iphone registered on the CSU network, then connect it to the wireless STAFF network
Provided here are set up instructions which will guide you through the Staff Email (exchange) setup.

Requirements
Your Windows laptop must meet the following requirements:
    •   Your CSU Username and Password
    •   Preferably your iphone or ipod Touch needs to be on the CSU wireless network
    •   iPhone or iPod touch with firmware version 2.0 or greater




Section 1 – Setup your exchange/email settings
Step 1
To setup the Email component of the iphone.

Select the “Mail” icon on the iphone, and it’ll bring up the
following options, hen select “Microsoft Exchange”
Step 2
You’ll need to enter in your CSU username and password
details along with your email address, click “next”

It’ll try to verify account information, but it’ll fail.

It’ll then ask for the server address, which is
weboutlook.csu.edu.au, click “next”




Step 3
You’ll then see the exchange “sync” options that need to be
turned on, click “save”
Step 4

It’ll then take you to your account settings, you can update
these to your liking.




Step 5
Your CSU Staff email settings have now been configured.

You can now get your CSU Email, Calendar & Contacts
information from the “Mail”, “Calendar” or “Contacts” icons
on your iphone

              Congratulations, you have connected your iphone to your CSU Staff Email.

Getting Started
To access the Staff Wireless Network, you must first register your iphone/ipod touch and then configure the wireless settings.
To do this, you must first have your iphone registered on the CSU network.
Provided here are set up instructions which will guide you through the Registration and configuration steps.

Requirements

    •   Your CSU Username and Password
    •   Your iphone or ipod Touch needs to be registered for the CSU network
    •   iPhone or iPod touch with firmware version 2.0 or greater




Section 1 - Connecting to the CSU Staff Wireless Network
Step 1
We now can connect to the “STAFF” wireless network

So whilst your still in the “Wi-Fi Networks” screen, connect to
the “STAFF” network and enter in your CSU username and
password details
Step 2
We now can connect to the “STAFF” wireless network

So whilst your still in the “Wi-Fi Networks” screen, connect to
the “STAFF” network and enter in your CSU username and
password details




Step 3
You’ll be prompted with a certificate for
“wireless.csu.edu.au”,
simply click “Accept”
Step 4
You will return to the Wi-Fi Networks screen.
This should show that you are now connected to the
“STAFF” network

This is shown by the “tick” next to the eduroam network




Step 5
We now need to setup the Internet Proxy settings.

Click on the “STAFF” network that is now connected to open
up its settings.

Go down the bottom to the “HTTP Proxy” settings and click on
the “AUTO” setup and type in the address below to configure
the proxy settings
http://www.csu.edu.au/proxy.prxy

Your iphone is now configured for proxy access from your
iphone

You can now use the iphone on the STAFF wireless network

Getting Started
To access the Student Wireless Network, you must first register your iphone/ipod touch and then configure the wireless settings.
To do this, you must first access the CSU Guest Wireless Network.
Provided here are set up instructions which will guide you through the Registration and configuration steps.

Requirements
Your Windows laptop must meet the following requirements:
    •   Your CSU Username and Password
    •   iPhone or iPod touch with firmware version 2.0 or greater



Section 1 - Registering Your iphone/ipod touch
Step 1
You need to connect to the guest wireless network,
goto “Settings” then “Wi-Fi”
You should then see the available wireless networks
Step 2
Connect to the “GUEST” network by selecting it

Your Wi-Fi Networks screen should update itself to show that
you are connected to the GUEST network.

This is shown by the “tick” next to the GUEST network




Step 3
Open your web browser (safari icon) and go to
http://www.csu.edu.au

You should see the Network Registration page, similar to the
page to the right.

Enter your my.csu username and password into the
appropriate fields, ensure you read and understand the user
agreement on that page, then click the “I Accept” button.

Once the registration successful page appears, you’ll then be
registered on the CSU STUDENT wireless network.
Step 4
We now need to remove the “GUEST” wireless settings.

goto “Settings” then “Wi-Fi” and open the “GUEST” network.

Click on “Forget this network” & then click “Forget Network”
to remove the GUEST network settings

You’ll then be taken back to the “Wi-Fi Networks” screen




Section 2 - Connecting to the CSU Student Wireless Network
Step 1
We now can connect to the “STUDENT” wireless network

So whilst your still in the “Wi-Fi Networks” screen, connect to
the “STUDENT” network and enter in your CSU username and
password details
Step 2
You’ll be prompted with a certificate for “wireless.csu.edu.au”,
simply click “Accept”




Step 3
You will return to the Wi-Fi Networks screen.
This should show that you are now connected to the
“STUDENT” network

This is shown by the “tick” next to the eduroam network
Step 4
We now need to setup the Internet Proxy settings.

Click on the “STUDENT” network that is now connected to
open up its settings.
