PLEASE SUPPORT THE EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT
I had the privilege to represent our Local Union recently as a delegate to the Sixth Regular Convention of the United Food and Commercial Workers International Union. This convention takes place once every five years. There were more than 3,000 UFCW members and guests. We discussed many topics of concern, such as how to grow and make our Union better, working hard to get the Employee Free Choice Act passed into law, building relationships in our communities, and fighting for national health care programs that would be available to all Americans. In electing politicians who are supportive of worker issues involving all workers, we must show the world that we are One Union with One Voice, and what is done to one of us is being done to us all. We have a goal of 3,000,000 members by the end of the year 2010. To achieve this goal, we must work together and help add members to our Local Union. First, by voting for Barack Obama, who has already committed to sign the Employee Free Choice Act when it crosses his desk. This will help workers who are interested in forming a Union. This will also increase our Union density and will give us strength at the bargaining table. History has taught us that political involvement is crucial to a strong and effective Labor Union. Unions must participate in the political process to preserve and establish safeguards, which protect our members rights at the bargaining table, and safety on the job.

POR FAVOR APOYE LA PROPUESTA (EMPLOYEE FREE CHOICE ACT)
Yo tuve el privilegio de representar a nuestra Unión Local como delegado a la Sexta Convención Regular de la United Food and Commercial Workers Internacional Unión. Esta convención se lleva acabo una ves cada cinco años. Asistieron mas de 3,000 miembros e invitados de la UFCW. Discutimos variedad de preocupaciones, así como el desarrollo y el hacer mejor a nuestra unión, trabajar muy duro para lograr pasar la ley Employee Free Choice Act, crear relaciones en nuestras comunidades, y pelear por obtener programas de servicio de salud nacional que podrán estar al alcance de todos los Americanos. Y en elegir políticos que están en apoyo de trabajadores que tienen problemas que envuelven a todos los trabajadores, nosotros tenemos que demostrarle al mundo que nosotros somos Una Unión con Una Voz, y que lo que le pase a uno de nosotros, significa que se lo están haciendo a todos nosotros. Nosotros tenemos una meta, de alcanzar a representar a 3,000,000 de miembros para los últimos del año 2010. Para alcanzar esta meta, tenemos que trabajar muy duro juntos y ayudar a inscribir mas miembros a nuestra Unión Local. Primero, empezando por elegir a Barack Obama, quien ya se ha comprometido a firmar la ley Employee Free Choice Act, cuando se la pongan en su escritorio. Esto ayudara a trabajadores quienes estén interesados en formar su unión. Esto también ayudara a crecer la densidad en nuestra unión y nos dará la fuerza en la mesa de negociaciones. La historia nos ha enseñado que el involucramiento político es crucial para fortalecer y ser más efectivo en la Unión Laboral. Las Uniones deben participar en el proceso de preservar y mantener protecciones, las cuales protegen a nuestros miembros así como a sus derechos en la mesa de negociaciones, y les proporciona seguridad en el trabajo.
