                          Energy Efficiency Housing
                          Entry Criteria:
Entries in the 2010 Energy Efficiency Housing Award will be judged on several criteria covering a wide scope of issues.
These include the entrant being required to demonstrate the implementation of the two (2) main criteria in the completed
project.

Each entry will be required to demonstrate the following:
General Entry Requirements:
1. Demonstrate a high level of workmanship involved in the installation/ construction of the project.
2. Demonstrate energy efficiency issues identified and solutions contained within the design and the completed project.

Please Note: The judge may request to see documents listed on the entry at the time of the site visit.

Project Overview:
Entrants are required to provide an overview of the project covering the following areas:
   Scope of work performed (e.g. upgrade or construction of building, design/ construct or engineer/ architect design)
   Challenges faced during design and construction.
   How the work was undertaken.

Innovation:
Entrants will be required to provide details of new products, in-house design applications or processes and/ or new
emerging technologies used and the application of trade experience, knowledge and skills beyond mere compliance with
contract specifications and project drawings, in a way that enhances the project.
Examples could include:
   In-house design aspects that set the project apart from client or engineer supplied design.
   Components and design aspects.
   Details of new or innovative products, applications, processes, installation methods and/ or design features.
   Incorporation of energy efficient passive design principles into the project.
   Conservation of water resources.
   Incorporation of renewable energy power sources.
   Incorporation of energy efficient services lighting, heating, air-conditioning and ventilation.
   Incorporation of existing structures or fittings into the new structure.
   Any difficulties experienced (e.g. site access, environmental, client requirements, design requirements) and how they
     were overcome (e.g. through planning, application of knowledge, skills, trade experience, project management or
     technical innovation)
   Advantages of new system(s).

Please Note: Entrants are encouraged to supply images during the construction process to demonstrate initiatives used
in the project, but remember that images of the project may be used for publicity purposes so images of the complete
project are also required.


Entry Fees (Including GST)              $525.00       Includes two (2) guests to Awards Dinner.
                                        $360.00       Subsequent category entries.

     A separate completed entry form for each entry.

     Completed entry form providing an overview of the project, including special features, constraints and difficulties, if
     any.

     Written consent is required from the owner, signifying the owner’s consent to the project being entered into the
     competition, and permitting access to the judge to inspect the entry at a mutually convenient time.

     Minimum six (6) photographs. (discs may be mailed separately but must be labelled identically to the entry name)
     Please supply digital images of front, oblique back and side, oblique front and side and three (3) inside.
     As all entries are entered in the Special Categories it is recommended that at least one image of each area
     be included. Images should be at least 5mpx and supplied in the largest file size or Jpeg format on two (2)
     separate CD’s ‘Before’ shots are to be clearly identified. Images should be saved clearly identifying the project, this
     should include the company name, entry title and what the picture is of.
     E.g. Master Builders_Marshall Residence_Bathroom1

     A floor plan of the entry (A3 or A4 is acceptable, private homes must include specifications)

     A full entry fee, payable to MBT must be included.

     Special Categories:
     I am aware that all HOUSING entries will be entered automatically into the Special Categories Best
     Bathroom, Best Kitchen and Best use of Timber.
