Lady Raiders Pull Off Second SMAC Title in Two
Years
By Andrew Knowlton
Staff Writer

With 22 seconds remaining in the 2007
girls lacrosse SMAC championship and the
score tied at four, Leonardtown’s Taeler Err-
ington sent a shot past Chopticon’s goalie to
earn the Lady Raiders their second confer-
ence title in a row.
“I guess I just took it one-on-one,” said
Errington. “I knew it was down to the wire
and I just took a shot.”
“Obviously we needed to score. We didn’t
want to go to overtime,” said Leonardtown
Head Coach Michael Denny. “So fortunately
we had an opportunity and Tae made a great
play. That was individual talent right there,
but all of the girls deserve credit, all of them,
all of them.”
Errington’s late goal gave the Lady Raid-
ers a 6-5 win, after her team struggled to keep
up with the Braves for the entire first half.
“It feels great,” said Raider goalie Katie
Hammerer. “It’s one of the best feelings I’ve
had all year.”
Chopticon jumped on the Raiders early
with goals from Breanne Russell and Dani-
elle Ostrowski. Although Leonardtown’s Em-
ily Lynch scored seconds later, both teams
