Minutes from the September 7, 2006 Meeting
                                Reminders from Nancy:
There seems to be some confusion about the following points:

1. Test Due Date: September 21, 2006 via U.S. Postal Service

2. Correction Night: September 28, 2006 (7:30) @ Sagamore

3. ****When you are officiating a double header, regardless of
who plays first, Varsity and/or JV, as soon as the first match
finishes, call the captains of the next team. After the captains'
meeting, set the clock to 27 minutes and begin the clock
immediately! The first 15 minutes is both teams warm-up time on
their side of the court. When the clock hits 12 minutes, the serving
team gets their six minutes of exclusive court use and then the
receiving team gets their six minutes…..THIS 27 MINUTES IS
RUNNING TIME…..DO NOT STOP THE CLOCK!…….
WHISTLE AT THE APPROPRIATE TIMES.

*** All normal business was postponed until the Spring meeting due to the fact that the
State was here for a rules interpretation meeting. The state goes to each section on a
rotating basis to make sure all officials are on the same page for rules interpretation.

                              Rules Interpretation Meeting
The State handed out a rules packet for each member. If you did not receive one,
please contact Nancy Stoeffler to make arrangements to get one.

***Please refer to your packet for ALL rule modifications, changes and points of
emphasis. Please see Nancy for any clarifications.
                        Please review this packet carefully!

The State stressed the following points:
1. Check uniforms carefully! There have been problems at the State Tournament with
illegal uniforms. Officials must be strict early in the season, so uniforms can be corrected
so that all are in compliance ASAP! (FYI: Girls do NOT have to have numbers
centered!)

2. Please remember to read the Sportsmanship card!
                   Suffolk Board of Volleyball Officials

3. As the First Official, confer with Second Official on signals during match. (Ex: 4

4. Second Referee: Watch the Net! Forget the ball!

6. The First Referee calls the game……..Second Referee allow the First Referee to call
the game and make a signal before you do, simply mimic.

7. Second Referees release the game with a hand gesture to the First Referee at the
beginning of a match/game, after a time-out or substitution, etc.

8. Second Referee stand SQUARE to the net and SQUARE to the court.

8. Remember to check the BOYS rosters.

9. Thank ALL members of you officiating team at the end of the match. (Line judges,
