The U.S. does not want China mad at us so we say we support the one
China policy but if thats true then who are we selling weapons to and
trading with on the island of Formosa?

         To make billions of dollars.

That's silly.

1. The US government approves (or not) the sales, but the profit if any is
made by the private companies who sell the weapons.

Quoting from a news story about weapons sales to Taiwan:

The Taipei Economic and Cultural Representative Office in the United States
has requested a possible sale of air−air missiles, continuation of a pilot
training program and logistics support for a long−term F−16 training program
in the USA worth up to $280 million. At the same time, Taiwan's larger
defense procurement environment is being paralyzed by the deliberate actions
of the Kuomintang or KMT party, despite recent Chinese threats of invasion
via their infamous 'anti−secession' law and widespread international fears
that a military attack on Taiwan is being planned for the post−Olympic
2008−2012 time frame.

The original plan is described as follows: Four years ago, the United States
offered to sell Taiwan a package of advanced weapons. The package, with a
price tag of $11 billion dollars, includes:

Tell me how "billions" in profits can be made if the total package is 11

billion dollars.

Unless China and the U.S. pushed
each other really hard not many Americans would die. It would mostly be
an air war with some naval forces and heavy bombers.

Americans don't engage in wars where the enemy has nuclear ability.

So, tell us all the times the PRC engaged in wars with a nuclear armed enemy.
Or better yet, tell us all the wars fought between two nations with nuclear
weapons.

Or better yet, tell us about the blockade of Cuba, aimed at Russia and Cuba.
Russia was certainly a nuclear power, and there was at least the possibility
that Cuba was.

It never engage in a war where it won't profit them.

Sarcasm alert.
Let's see. Vietnam. Yep, the US made a lot of money from that war. How about
the Korean war. Yep, the US got rich again. And, if those seem dated
examples, you can show us how the invasion of Iraq and Afghanistan profited
America.

If China stopped doing business with the US, the US economy will be
devastated. The same goes to China if the US stopped doing business
        with them.

Let's see. The CCP's only excuse for its dictatorship is that the Chinese are
getting richer. If the Chinese economy nose−dived (you say "devastated"
applies to China), then the CCP would have no justification for its rule at
all.

BTW, war in the Taiwan Strait would not merely stop trade between China and
America, but it would also stop trade between China and Japan, Europe,
Canada, etc.

Let's look at the American economy:

While the US ( by a large measure) is China's largest trading partner, Canada
is America's largest trading partner. China is American's second largest
partner (roughly the same as Mexico, which is in 3rd place). China represents
less than 25% of US international trade.

Re: China vs. Taiwan (United States) Arms Race = Better U.S. Economy
(And Malaysia, Indonesia, the Philippines would all love to become America's
cheap labor source.)

War starts by seizing and freezing assets. These 2 nations
have too much invested on each other they're almost dependent on one
another. Do you think they'll go through all that for Taiwan?

Yes.

Undoubtedly. No American administration could ignore a communist invasion of
a democratic country.

       Only
the Taiwanese would think they're all that important. As you can see,
the bottom line is money. If the US were not allowed to contract US
companies to rebuild Iraq, do you think there would be a war in the
       first place?

Agree that one or two companies made money. In general America suffered a
great loss.
