The Executive Director must promote the mission and goals of WomanKind, inc.
Responsibilities include the execution of all administrative, development, marketing and
clinical program activities of the corporation.
The successful candidate will have a minimum of a master’s degree in business,
public health, nursing or related field. Relevant work experience may be considered in
lieu of a formal degree.
Public Relations and Community Networking
Community Networking: Develop community awareness by participating in
public speaking engagements, participation in local committees, task forces, civic
organizations, etc. Establish positive relationships with other community agencies,
businesses and concerned citizens. Cultivate positive relationships with potential major
donors, foundations, volunteers and supporters.
Community Awareness: Develop positive relationships and participate in public
relations opportunities with local media resources. Work with Assistant Director to
develop and distribute press releases and/or media advisories regarding program
Public Relations: Project a favorable public image of the corporation at all
times, in an articulate and professional manner. Together with Assistant Director,
develop public relations materials, brochures, handouts, slide presentations, videos, etc.
for public distribution.
Financial Responsibilities: In conjunction with the Board of Directors,
coordinate all aspects of the corporation’s finances. Develop budget and plan allocation
Fundraising: In conjunction with the Board of Directors, ensure adequate
resources for operating the clinical program. Develop relationships with potential major
donors, foundations, local governmental agencies and and/or health-related agencies to
identify and pursue potential funding sources. Work with the Board of Directors to
develop and implement fundraising projects.
Grant Writing: Along with the dedicated Grantwriter, research and identify
potential local grant resources. Instruct Grantwriter to develop professional grant
proposals at the local, state and federal levels as appropriate, and review grant proposals
prior to submission.
Contract Negotiations: Successfully negotiate funding and/or other relevant
contracts that are pertinent to ensuring the ongoing operation of the corporation.
Contract Compliance: Monitor and evaluate operations to ensure adherence to
the provisions of all funding and relevant contracts and established accounting/audit
procedures. Work directly with funding sources to enhance the possibility of renewing
and/or maintaining the funding source.
Board Liaison: Act as a liaison between the Board of Directors and clinical
facility. Attend all Board meetings. Prepare written and/or verbal presentations or
reports as necessary. Responsible for ensuring that the Board is kept apprised of all
pertinent information. Bring recommendations to the Board for approval and
implementation of activities and policies within the clinical facility. Meet with the Board
President routinely to update regarding ongoing issues.
Participation: Attend all Board meetings and Board functions, community
projects, fundraisers etc., as appropriate.
Goal Setting and Implementation: Coordinate and participate in annual Board
of Director’s Strategic Planning Retreat. Work with the Board of Directors to establish
both short and long term goals and objectives. Develop programs or procedures to ensure
that goals are achieved.
Policies and Procedures: Work in conjunction with the Board of Directors to
develop and evaluate policies and guidelines.
The role of the Executive Director is to support, mentor and coach the Clinical
Service Director to oversee clinical program quality, development, goal setting, and
Program Quality: Ensures that both the Clinical Services Director and the
Medical Director monitor, assess and evaluate the quality of program services delivered
by the clinical facility to ensure the safe delivery of care that meets the needs of the
identified target populations and is at or above the accepted standard of care in the
Program Development: Oversees the development of appropriate new services
and/or review and update existing services provided through the corporation.
Regulations Compliance: Ensures that the Clinical Services and Medical
Directors monitor and evaluate the clinical program to ensure adherence to all local, state
and federal regulations and guidelines.
Reporting: Prepares reports concerning program outcomes, impact and
Staffing: Ensure that the clinical facility is properly staffed by overseeing
recruitment, hiring, training, motivation and evaluation of staff. Ensure that all
employees have the appropriate skills, abilities, and licensing as required by law.
Policies and Procedures: Ensure that all staff have read and provided written
sign off of understanding of agency Policies and Procedures. Oversee the
implementation of all policies and procedures outlined. Ensure maintenance of current
job descriptions and evaluations for each employee.
Supervision and Evaluation: Oversee the supervision of all staff in accordance
with all approved policies and procedures. Provide personnel counseling and discipline
in accordance with approved Employee Handbook and Policies and Procedures.
Direct Supervision: The Executive Director directly supervises the Assistant
Director, and the Clinical Services Director. The E.D. ensures that all other staff are
supervised, reviewed and evaluated by their direct supervisor.
Staff Development: Assist with the planning and implementation of a staff
training and development program, and ensure provision of ongoing opportunity for staff
growth and development.
Managerial Duties: Ensure the efficient operation of the corporation’s
functioning by overseeing the day-to-day operations and activities. Conduct ongoing
analysis of programs and prepares reports and written documentation in accordance with
State standards, funding contract mandates, and in accordance with board procedures.
The Executive Director reports directly to the Board President and Board of
Local and out of town travel, as well as evening and weekend work required.
