The Temper Trap www.myspace.com/thetempertrap We sail a course through the love, war and blood of the world, We tie ourselves to the masts and take in the siren’s song. The journey is rough and beset on all sides with fears both real and imagined But we invite you onboard if you’ll share your laughter and tears. On the strength of their self titled debut EP in 2006, Melbourne band The Temper Trap emerged as an endearing story packed full of irresistible promise An arrangement of atmospheric grooves, crowned by the vocal powers of singer Dougie's captivating voice led to the single 'My Sun' receiving rotation airplay on Triple J and the band being compared favorably with the likes of TV on the Radio, Radiohead and early U2 Intense and energetic live shows ensured an impressive tour roster with the band gracing the stage with prestigious international acts including Modest Mouse, Kasabian, Cold War Kids, Omar Rodriguez, The Dears, Damo Suzuki, and Spank Rock. Complimenting this were spots on multiple major festivals including V Festival, The Great Escape and The Laneway Festival. In May of this year the band entered Melbourne’s Sing Sing Studios to record their much anticipated debut album. They came with a series of epic new tracks, wild dreams and bundles of nervous energy. Renowned UK producer Jim Abbiss (Arctic Monkeys, U.N.K.L.E, Kasabian, Placebo, Bjork) flew into town to be at the helm and the results of this brilliant new evolution in sound will persuasively draw you in. The band has conquered adventurous new territory, building on their rich foundations in a natural progression and embellishing the songs with washes of keys, strings and choirs. It is an album equally ambitious as bold – never content to settle into predictability, neither within the confines of a single track or across the spectrum of the album. Sweet Disposition is the first taster of the album, which will be released in early 2009. It is a definitive statement for both the record, and indeed the band’s unique standing on the Australian musical landscape. Driven by a transfixing guitar melody and brilliant, hypnotic vocal, it morphs into a surging indie rock anthem that you’ll find impossible to ignore. The Temper Trap have undeniably arrived.
