• Retention Strategies: develop, collaborate and implement retention strategies that will effectively increase student success. SECONDARY SERVICES: • Partner with other WVC counselors to develop comprehensive counseling services, which enhance WVC student’s experiences. • Serve as the Hope Scholarship Coordinator. • Serve on school committees. • Provide current and relevant information regarding counseling services to the web master. • Provide some counseling services on-line. • Perform other duties as assigned MINIMUM QUALIFICATIONS: • Master’s degree in counseling or in a related field. PREFERRED QUALIFICATIONS: • Sensitivity to an understanding of the diverse educational, socioeconomic, cultural, and ethnic backgrounds of community college students, including those with physical, emotional and or learning disabilities. • Ability to successfully collaborate with faculty, staff, community members and students as part of an effective student development team. • A working knowledge of a variety of computer software programs such as Excel, Microsoft Word, etc. • Strong written, oral and listening skills. • Bilingual in Spanish and English.
