1.   PURPOSE

     To provide directions for the wearing of State Emergency Service (SES) Rank Insignia.

2.   RATIONALE

     SES members are required to wear a uniform and the Rank Insignia represents approved
     positions within the organisation.

3.   APPLICATION

     Applies to all SES members.

4.   OPERATIONS DOCTRINE INFORMATION

     This SES Operations Doctrine replaces information contained in former Administrative
     Instruction Number 16.
     •     Rank Insignia for the SES are approved by the Executive Director, Emergency
           Management Queensland (EMQ).
     •     SES members are to wear Rank Insignia for positions they are appointed to.
     •     This approved Rank Insignia must be worn at all times on overalls and dress uniform.
     •     SES members are not to wear unauthorised Rank Insignia.

     4.1      INSIGNIA DESCRIPTION

     The current approved Rank Insignia for the SES are described as follows:

              4.1.1    LOCAL CONTROLLER

              Navy blue epaulette with the acronym “SES” on the outer edge, one orange band and
              two orange circular “pips”.

              4.1.2    DEPUTY LOCAL CONTROLLER

              Navy blue epaulette with the acronym “SES” on the outer edge, one orange band and
              one orange circular “pip”.

              4.1.3    GROUP LEADER

              Navy blue epaulette with the acronym “SES” on the outer edge and two orange
              circular “pips”.

              4.1.4    DEPUTY GROUP LEADER

              Navy blue epaulette with the acronym “SES” on the outer edge and one orange
              circular “pip”.

                4.1.5     TEAM LEADER

                Navy blue epaulette with the acronym “SES” on the outer edge and three orange
                chevrons with their apex to the outer shoulder.

                4.1.6     SENIOR FIELD OPERATIONS

                Navy blue epaulette with the acronym “SES” on the outer edge and two orange
                chevrons with their apex to the outer shoulder.

                4.1.7     FIELD OPERATIONS

                Navy blue epaulette with the acronym “SES” on the outer edge and one orange
                chevron with its apex to the outer shoulder.

                4.1.8     COMMUNITY VOLUNTEER

                Navy blue epaulette with the acronym “SES” on the outer edge.

      4.2       RELIEF POSITIONS

      Persons appointed to relieve for a temporary period in a position of higher duties are to wear
      the Rank Insignia approved for the higher duty position for the period of the relief
      appointment.
