Mandurah Easter Regatta – 2 to 5 April 2010
Only 2 days away and the impressive list of entrants is still growing rapidly. We are still looking for

Soling State Championship
This championship will be conducted as part of the Mandurah Easter Regatta. We require Soling

Easter Sunday Session
Now here’s a great way to entertain your out of town Easter visitors & guests. On Sunday, from 12
Noon come along to the Outdoors Easter Sunday SESSION - It’ll be a FUN DAY featuring live
entertainment by that ever popular soloist Brenton FOZDYKE (who made that famous hit song “The
Pushbike Song” & others hits), and for the kids there will be a visit by the Easter Bunny from 1000
and to keep them occupied, a BOUNCY CASTLE.

Cruising News
Friday 2 April (Good Friday)
Cruise to Abrolhos Islands - Experienced Skippers Only
Cruise to Abrolhos Islands leaving MOFSC for two weeks from Good Friday. Register your

Twilight Sailing
Until Wednesday 28th April the cruising section holds twilight sailing every Wednesday evening
(weather conditions permitting). Meet at the club at 5.45pm as vessels leave the marina soon
thereafter. The start time is 6pm and the latest you should be back at the club is 7:30pm
The sailing is very casual with a very relaxed format, depending on the wind conditions. Yachts will
normally sail one of two courses. Come along and enjoy an hour or so of sailing before
relaxing at the club. These events are open to all members. Register your interest at the club. Contact

Monthly Fishing Competition

On Saturday 27 March the AAA Fishing raffle was drawn. 1st.prize winner. MOFSC member Gratton
Stone won the Engel Fridge. 2nd prize Rod & Reel Combo, Ray Bruce of ORSSC. 3rd prize. 85
Ltr:Cooler won by PC Pats of AAA.

Dinghy News
Get Into Small Boat Sailing (GISBS) Course: Junior
The next course for Juniors will be held on 10 & 11 April (commencing at 8am) – Cost $150 which
includes a log book & certificate. There will be a $40 reduction for the second or third participant from
the same family. Please register your interest to urgently as we will be
extending the invitation to others after this date.

Power News
Back by popular demand! This trip attracts more and more people each year. Depart MOFSC
Saturday morning, for a 2 hour cruise to Koombana Bay, Bunbury. Upon arrival, we will anchor up in
the safe haven of the Koombana Bay Sailing Club, who will be our hosts for the weekend. A roast
dinner will be available on Saturday night for $27 p/p or make use of the BBQ facilities. Sunday
morning see’s the ever popular Mystery Bus Tour and lunch for those willing. Fees apply. Sunday
dinner is a short walk to Barbados restaurant for a hearty meal and dance. Monday morning is a
cooked breakfast at the Dome before cruising back to Mandurah. Those without a boat may still join
us by road. Koombana Bay Caravan Park has Chalets available. $10 per boat or car! To register

Sailing News
Safety and Sea Survival Certificate
Yachting Western Australia will be conducting this course here at MOFSC on Sat 17th & Sun 18th
April (0800 – 1700). Please visit the Training & Education tab of the Club website to download the
enrolment form. Cost is $440 per person.

National Race Officer Course
Places on these courses are limited with a maximum of 20 people per course. The next
State/National Race Officer Training Courses to be delivered by Yachting WA, are as follows:
Royal Perth Yacht Club             2 May (0830-1600) and 3-4 May (1830-2130)
East Fremantle Yacht Club          22-23 May (0830-1600)
Fremantle Sailing Club             3 June (0830 -1600) and 14-15 June (1830-2130)

Car Parking for Members in Hardstand bays after 1800
If Members are experiencing difficulty parking in the Club carpark when there is a large volume of
cars parked, you may park your vehicles in the Hardstand Bay area after 1800. This will alleviate
pressure on the main carpark.

Strategic Planning Workshops
At the Half Yearly Meeting, members were presented with an overview of the first Draft of our
Strategic Plan 2010 – 2020. Following this, a series of Member based workshops have been planned
to continue our consultation and seek Member’s input into the plan. The next workshop will be:

Following completion of all workshops, the interim Draft will be sent to Members for further comment,
after which we anticipate conducting a Special General Meeting in mid to late June to adopt the plan
and Constitution and By Law changes that may be associated with our Strategic direction. Members

Special Celebration Evening
Saturday 17 April 1800 – 2200 hrs Dolphin View Room
Are you celebrating a special occasion in April? Come and celebrate your special occasion at our
club. We will be holding monthly get-togethers for our Members and their friends and families to join
others and celebrate. You could be celebrating something special such as winning an event or even
an exam. This is especially for you, so dress up if you like or simply come along and enjoy a great
night together. Pre order your BBQ packs by 13 April through our Club office on 9535 6251 or enjoy
our sensational Club Menu. The BBQ pack consists of sausage, steak & meat pattie with salad. For

On Saturday 20 March, 31 people attended our first Special Celebration evening that was held in the
Hook area. This event was attended by both members and friends that had recently celebrated a
Birthday, Anniversary etc. It was a very successful night and thank you to all who attended.

Book now for this special event to be held here at our Club. Featuring David Templeman MLA as our
MC and a special guest speaker. All guests will receive a complimentary Glass of Champagne to go

6251. Proceeds go toward the National Breast Cancer Foundation.
