Career Information Management System (CIMS) - Online
Navy Counselor Association (NCA) Symposium
18 July 2005
What is CIMS?
•
CIMS is an on-line transactional system which will follow the Sailors throughout their career. CIMS will: Automate the Command Career Counselor’s office procedures and simplify the daily processes.
Assist in creating and maintaining a Sailor’s Career Counselor’s record and in preparing for Career Development Boards.
Aid with Rating Conversions and Career Decisions and provide a host of reports, forms, and certificates. Leverage NSIPS and deploy ashore and afloat.
2
History and Capabilities
Replaces the stand-alone CIPM 99/00 with mostly manual data entry that did not transfer with the sailor. Provides a road map for Sailors to become professional Sea Warriors. Fully integrated with NSIPS and a Sailor’s Electronic Service Record (ESR), eliminating the need for repetitive data entry at each new Command and the associated errors that may occur.
Provides Commands the ability to assist Sailors in achieving their goals and holding them accountable for their own professional growth.
Tracks transition between Active and Reserve assignments. Provides entire history for the professional growth and goals. Allows ISICs non-intrusive monitoring of subordinate commands via reports. 3
