PROFESSIONAL EXPERIENCE HUGHES NETWORK SYSTEMS, 2005-Present Manager Corporate Communications, Marketing Communications Part of the Corporate Communications Team for Hughes Network Systems (Hughes), a publicly traded company on NASDAQ (HUGH), with almost a billion dollars in annual revenue. Responsibilities include managing all trade shows (> 50 exhibits/sponsorships), directing three major annual events, Editor of the award-winning Channels Newsletter, management of two marketing communications departments, and supervision of one internal resource and 20 outsourced vendor-partners. GANN MARKETING, 1998-2005 Principal, Marketing Communications Gann Marketing provides outsourced creative and innovative marketing for small and medium-sized businesses. With the philosophy: “Do what is best for the customer,” all marketing is specifically targeted and customer driven. Activities include developing new marketing strategies, brand development and messaging, collateral development and design, website creation, print/production, and vendor management. ACCESS INTELLIGENCE, LLC, 2004-2005 Manager, Marketing Communications Developed and fulfilled all marketing activities for three major industry trade shows for a leading publishing and media company, including SATELLITE, STAR Symposium 2004, and Emergency Response. Gann Continued NEXTLINX CORPORATION, 1999-2001 Manager, Marketing Managed the development of a clear and consistent marketing program. Created the key messaging for a midsized software company, and developed a comprehensive marketing and brand strategy. This included, budget, branding/messaging standards, and a tactical plan to establish the company as the industry leader. Management of marketing team comprised of five internal resource and 10 outsourced vendor-partners. CYNTERCORP, 1996-1998 Manager, Marketing Develop marketing materials for an entrepreneurial company and four subsidiaries, including brochures, flyers, websites, graphical offering models, and public relations. In addition, was directly responsible for developing the educational sessions for the F/S Tech trade shows (three years). SELECTED ACCOMPLISHMENTS  Trade Show & Event Management: Developed and managed a corporate sales meeting for 300 senior managers. This included 15 sub-meetings, live technical product demonstrations, full production, keynote presentations, team building, and an awards dinner. Managed this event from creative conception through post-event surveys and budget review. Result: In 2008, this was considered the best meeting of its type by 90% of all attendee, including my boss, and his boss the CEO (many of the attendees that had been with the company for +10 years)  Established Company Brand: Generated awareness and effectively communicated the benefits of a company's products and services, creating an increased market value. Developed a strong brand, powerful printed materials, and electronic communications. Reinforced overall marketing initiatives. Result: Company revenues increased from $5 million to $15 million within two years.  Developed Powerful Messaging: Developed specific marketing strategies for diverse conferences and exhibitions that communicated the benefits of sponsoring, exhibiting and attending the respective shows. Result: By developing a need and a clear message, exhibit sales increased 20% (70 exhibits, a dozen strategic trade agreements and more than $200,000), following a yearlong industry downturn, and attendance registration increased 100%, totaling 1,000 registrations, to a five-year high.  Intelligent Internet Marketing: Designed and developed table-driven websites that simply communicated benefits and offerings to specialized vertical groups (e.g., Broadcasters, Military). Results: Specialized messaging increased target audiences (5%), overall site traffic, length of stay for each visitor (~12 minutes), and top-line revenue (More than 450 exhibitors, 7,000 registrations, and worldwide representation).
