JOB SEARCH TIPS
Maintain several copies of a current resume to submit to future employers. Most employers expect resumes; so if you do not have one, or if you have never had a professional critique it, please talk to someone in the Employment Resource Room about getting on track! Attach a cover letter and have three references with phone numbers available if asked. Use people that are currently employed themselves, and someone that you know will give you a GOOD reference. Be dressed for an interview the day you turn in your resume and or application. Always be sure to look your best & have a positive upbeat attitude whenever you come Into contact with a prospective employer! After an interview, send a thank-you letter noting a time that you will contact them later that week to follow up. Be sure to list a current daytime telephone number where an employer can reach you. If you do not have an answering machine, get one and leave a PROFESSIONAL message. Employers cannot interview you if they can’t reach you! Finally, try to get three job leads each time you visit the Employment Resource Room!
