                Casuarina Library
                 Grand Opening
This Monday at 930 am the Lord Mayor Of Darwin will officially re-open the newly
refurbished Casuarina Library.

The library was closed at the end of 2008 for a 12 week refurbishment costing over 1.6
million dollars. Improvements include new air-conditioning plant, carpets, hundreds
of new books, new public PCs (now have 12), games consoles, automatic self checkouts
and revamped meeting rooms.

Lord Mayor Graeme Sawyer says the Casuarina Library is a vital asset to many
members of the community and this initiative by Darwin City Council will be of great
benefit to many Territorians.

“ The total number of items borrowed from libraries has increased by 8% in the past four
years with over 590,000 visits to the libraries and 21,000 attended special events hosted
by the libraries”.
