RSC Strategic Plan
Formal 3-year strategic plan, vision, mission with broad major goals and many supporting initiatives. Planning performed by senior and middle management team with “deep dives” to staff for ideas, feedback. IT is part of all planning groups, nearly one third of strategic plan initiatives involve or become IT projects. Plan is actively worked and monitored, and updated annually.

IT Horizon Forecasts
Periodically forecast 3 to 4 year view of major IT initiatives. These drive architecture planning and biennial budget planning. Often include multi-year themes such as:
supporting mobile workers, disaster recovery/business continuity, security, business process improvements, cost controls Improved management information/planning
We need to be more formal about these.

IT Steering Committee
Members are the RSC Executive Team Purpose
To review, approve/reject, and prioritize major IT projects To advise CIO on how IT can best meet agency needs (vision and strategy)
Meets 4-6 times a year

Project Evaluations
Creating a structured project proposal process and form to guide us. Projects proposed by customers with IT assistance, or IT driven for compliance, etc.

Future Initiatives
Business Replace VR case management system Business Intelligence (Cognos) Process streamlining, reducing costs Technology Stay on top of security Virtualization (VM/SAN) Moving toward web-based for all apps. Collaboration tools (Sharepoint, IM, others?) Watching for Open Source opportunities.
