1.     Scale of Pay
The Corporation has the following Scales of pay for employee on IDA pay pattern, from various
cadres - the lowest level of workmen to the Executive Director's level.

2.    DEARNESS ALLOWANCE
The DA payable would be governed as per the following provisions :

  •    DA installments would be released 4 times in a year w.e.f. Ist January, Ist April, Ist July
        & Ist October.
  •    DA would be paid for the increase in AICPI above the quarterly index average of 1708 to
        which the existing scales of pay are related.
  •    The percentage increase / decrease in the quarterly average of AICPI for the period
        ending February, May, August and November over index 1708 would be taken upto
        one decimal point.
  •    The rate of compensation over the basic pay at index average of 1708 is also in whole
        numbers with fractions carried forward.
  •    The percentage neutralization to employees in different pay ranges would be 100%.

3.     CITY* COMPENSATORY ALLOWANCE
City Compensatory Allowance is admissible in "A", "B-1" and "B-2" class cities. The rates at
which City Compensatory Allowance is admissible are as under :-

4.     HOUSE RENT ALLOWANCE

5.       LEASE ACCOMMODATION.

Executives of NHDC (except TE/TOs) are provided with the facility of Company Leased
Accommodation in the form of Third Party Leased Accommodation and Self Leased
Accommodation. The rental ceiling of the lease amount is based on the max. of the scale as
under :-

NOTE : Facility to retain leased accommodation at the previous place of posting / residence or
availing lease of the new station where the executive intends to shift his family on transfer is
available.

7.       NON PRACTICING ALLOWANCE (NPA)

NPA is payable to Medical Officers @ 25% of basic pay with effect from 01.08.99. NPA is not
counted for any purpose.

8.       NIGHT SHIFT ALLOWANCE

NOTE : Employees shall not be engaged in more than 8 night shift per month as a general rule,
        in case the services of the employee are required in night shift for more than 8 days in
        a month in the interest of the Corporation, prior approval of the Head of Projects /
        Power Stations is required.

•      Two months entitlement of conveyance reimbursement in a year for Executive /
       Supervisors as reimbursement of repair & maintenance of conveyance.
•      Trainee Engineers / Trainee Officers are not entitled to monthly conveyance
       reimbursement.

12.    NEWSPAPER & MAGAZINES REIMBURSEMENT.

The amount of reimbursement of the cost of Newspaper and Magazines to employees is as

13.    WASHING ALLOWANCE

All Workmen and Supervisors receiving uniform (livery) shall be eligible for washing allowance
@ Rs.100 per month.

SPECIAL COMPENSATORY ALLOWANCE TO EMPLOYEES POSTED IN PROJECTS /
     POWER STATIONS : At the rate of 5% of Basic Pay per month.

14.    CHILDREN EDUCATION ASSISTANCE

A.     Children education expenditure reimbursement
       @ Rs. 250/- pm per child restricted to 2 children.
B.     Hostel subsidy
       @ Rs. 1500/- pm per child restricted to 2 children.
