					        Parking and Commuting Information
Swedish offers employees a variety of parking and commuting services. These
services are based on the objectives and requirements of Swedish’s Transportation
Management Plan with the City of Seattle and the Washington State Commute Trip
Reduction law. This fact sheet provides information on what is available at each
campus, including:
   • Ballard Campus                   • Home Care Services
   • Cherry Hill Campus               • Issaquah Campus

Ballard Campus
Commuting Services – Ballard:
  • Bus Pass: Swedish provides all employees with a free bus pass. Bus passes may be obtained from the
    Security Office in Ballard with your Swedish employee photo I.D. See General Information on the
    back page for more details.
  • Trip Planner: Metro Transit can assist you with planning your commute. Call them at (206) 553-3000
    or visit their Web site at http://transit.metrokc.gov. The main bus routes that go by the Ballard campus
    are: #15, #17, #18, #44, #46, #75 and #81.
  • Guaranteed Ride Home: Please see General Information section.
  • Ferry Pass: Employees who live across Puget Sound may obtain a free monthly ferry pass with their
    Swedish employee photo ID. Passes are available at the Ballard Cashier Office on the second floor.
    The bus route from the Ferry dock is #18. See General Information on the back page for more details.
Parking Services – Ballard:
  • Daily Paid Parking: All employees are eligible for daily paid parking in the Ballard garage, which is
    located on Tallman Avenue across the street from the hospital. The daily employee rate with your
    Swedish employee photo I.D. is $3. Prices are subject to change.
  • Monthly Paid Parking: Monthly employee parking is available in the Ballard garage for day shift ($40
    per month), evening shift ($25 per month) and night shift (free) via payroll deduction. Prices are
    subject to change. A parking permit will be mailed to your home address when you sign up.
  • Carpool and Vanpool: Parking for registered vanpools and carpools is free. See
    General Information on the back page for more details. Prices are subject to change


Cherry Hill Campus
Commuting Services – Cherry Campus:
  • Bus Pass: Swedish provides all employees with a free bus pass. Your Swedish employee photo I.D. is
    required to obtain a bus pass from the Cherry Hill Parking Office. Please see General Information on
    the back page for more details.
  • Trip Planner: Metro Transit can assist you with planning your commute. Call them at (206) 553-3000
    or go to their Web site at http://transit.metrokc.gov. The main bus routes to the Cherry Hill campus
    are: #3, #4, #27, #48, #64, #84, #303, #941 and #942.
  • First Hill Express: The First Hill Express is a bus service that comes directly to the First Hill and Cherry
    Hill campuses from the following Park and Ride locations. These routes require no transfers in downtown:
     — #64: Lake City Way, Wedgewood and Greenlake
     — #303: Shoreline, Aurora Village, Meridian Park and Northgate
     — #941: Star Lake, Kent-Des Moines and Tukwila
     — #942: Eastgate, South Bellevue and Mercer Island

First Hill Campus
Commuting Services – First Hill:
  • Bus Pass: Swedish provides all employees with a free bus pass. Your Swedish employee photo I.D. is
    required to obtain a bus pass from the Parking Office on First Hill, located in the Invex Building at 1123
    Columbia St., on the corner of Columbia Street and Minor Avenue (enter from Columbia Street). See
    General Information on the back page for more details.
  • Trip Planner: Metro Transit can assist you with planning your commute. Call them at (206) 553-3000 or
    visit their Web site at http://transit.metrokc.gov. The main bus routes that go by the First Hill campus
    are: #2, #3, #4, #9, #10, #11, #12, #13, #43, #49, #60, #64, #205, #303, #941 and #942.
  • First Hill Express: The First Hill Express is a bus service that comes directly to the First Hill and
    Cherry Hill campuses from the following Park and Ride locations. These bus routes do not require
    transfers in downtown:

     the Minor and James garage. The daily employee rate is $7 with your Swedish Employee Photo I.D.,
     $5 after 9 p.m. and on weekends. Prices are subject to change.
   • Monthly Paid Parking: Monthly employee parking is available in a designated area for evening shift
     ($50 per month) and night shift (free) via payroll deduction. Monthly parking for day shift is not
     currently available at First Hill, except for employees with a hire date of July 1990 or earlier ($85 per
     month). When you sign up for monthly parking, a permit will be mailed to your home address. Please
     see General Information on the back page for more details. Prices are subject to change.

Issaquah Campus
Commuting Services – Issaquah Campus:

     required to obtain a bus pass from the Administrative Offices at Issaquah Campus. See General

Parking Services – Issaquah Campus:
  • Parking: All day-shift employees need to park at Lake Sammamish State Park. The park is past the
    campus entrance on the right. The parking lot is inside the park on the left, and staff should park at any
    of the stalls with red bumpers. There is a shuttle running throughout the day. All evening and night
    employees park on-site in the stalls closest to I-90 (the southeast corner of the building).

Metropolitan Park
Commuting Services – Metropolitan Park:
  • Bus Pass: Swedish provides all employees with a free bus pass. Your Swedish employee photo I.D. is
    required to obtain a bus pass from the First Hill Parking Office, located in the Invex Building at 1123
    Columbia St. Please see General Information on the back page for more details.
  • Trip Planner: Metro Transit can assist you with planning your commute. Call them at (206) 533-3000
    or visit their Web site at http://transit.metrokc.gov. The main bus routes that go by Metropolitan Park
    are CT Routes: 401, 402, 404, 405, 408, 410, 411, 414, 415, 417, 424, 510, 511; Metro Routes: 7, 10,
    11, 12, 14, 25, 41, 43, 64, 66, 83, 101, 106, 125, 150, 177, 190, 195, 196, 205, 250, 252, 255, 257, 260,
    261, 268, 280, 311, 545; Sound Transit Routes: 510, 511, 513.

  • Ferry Pass: Employees who live across Puget Sound may obtain a free monthly ferry pass with their

Parking Services – Metropolitan Park:
  • Daily Paid Parking: All employees are eligible for daily paid parking in the Met Park North Garage.
    To receive the $7 early bird special you must enter the Met Park North Garage before 9:00 am and
    leave within 10 hours. Prices are subject to change.
  • Monthly Paid Parking: Monthly parking for dayshift is not currently available at Metropolitan Park,
    except for employees with a hire date of July 1990 or earlier ($85 per month). Prices are subject to
    change.
  • Carpool and Vanpool: Parking for registered vanpools is free and carpool parking is 20.00 a month per
    person via payroll deduction. Please see General Information on the back page for more details. Prices
    are subject to change.


General Information
  • Bicycle: Employee bicycle cages are provided in the Minor and James and Madison garages on First
    Hill, the Ballard garage and the Cherry Hill garage. There is a $5 non-refundable key fee.
  • Bus Pass: Day- and evening-shift employees may obtain an annual Flex Pass and night-shift
    employees may obtain a monthly Puget Pass. Bus passes are valid with Community Transit, Metro
    Transit, Pierce Transit, Sound Transit and the Sounder Train. The fare value of the Flex Pass is $4.
    Puget Passes come in different fare values depending on the commute. They are available from the
    20th of the month prior to the effective date up to the 10th of the current month. Prices are subject to
    change.
  • Bus Routes Between Campuses:
     — Between First Hill and Cherry Hill: Take the #3 or #4 on Jefferson. From First Hill to Cherry Hill,
      catch the bus on the south side of the street. From Cherry Hill to First Hill, catch the bus on the
      north side of the street.
    — Between First Hill and Ballard: Take the #12 from the north side of Madison Street to downtown
     and transfer to the #18 on the east side of 1st Avenue. Exit the bus on Ballard Avenue N.W. and
     N.W. Market Street and walk two to three blocks to Ballard.
 • Carpool: Registered carpools of two or more Swedish employees or tenants are eligible for priority
   discounted parking fees. To qualify, participants must carpool four out of five days per week.
   Carpoolers with a Flex Pass may use the Guaranteed Ride Home program (see next column). To find a
   carpool, visit www.rideshareonline.com or call the Parking Office at (206) 386-2235 for a Riders
   Wanted brochure. Metro Rideshare will mail you a list of interested riders.
 • Ferry Pass: The Central Sound Ferry Pass covers the full fare for walk-on commuters on all
   Washington state ferries but the passenger-only ferry. For the passenger-only ferry, you will need to
   pay the difference between the pass value and the fare. Ferry passes are available from the 20th of the
   month prior to the effective date up to the 10th of the current month. Prices are subject to change.
 • Guaranteed Ride Home: The Flex Pass provides up to 16 guaranteed rides home per year. These rides
   may be used for qualified circumstances only, such as being required to work late, going home early
   due to low census, sick family member, etc. To use this service, call the Parking Office or, after hours,
   the hospital operator by dialing ―0.‖ A taxi service will take you to your home or vehicle. Please see
   Swedish On-line for more details.
 • Vanpool: Registered vanpools are eligible for free priority parking. The Flex Pass will cover up to $63
   per month of the vanpool fare and use of the Guaranteed Ride Home program. To find a vanpool, visit
   www.rideshareonline.com, or call Metro Rideshare at (206) 625-4500.
