Introduction to the Router Configuration Exercises
This manual uses configuration exercises to help you practice configuring Cisco routers according to
the required network design and functions with the commands and topics presented. It also helps you
practice hardware interfaces and access, knowing which cable type is the most suitable on the
different routers’ and switches’ ports.

In the configuration exercises, the network, as shown in figure (1-1), consists of four-main Groups,
each with three routers. Each group is assigned with a private network as given in Table1-1. There
are also two switches that will be used to connect the Controlling WorkStations to the desired router
for configuring and testing processes.

(CCNA Exam 640-802 and ICND Exam 640-816)

It is important to remember to assign each controlling workstation with the correct network
IP address of the same subnet address assigned for the desired router to be configured as suggested
in Table1-2. Table1-1 provides most important information needed for setting up the console
connections with each router.

It is also important to know the Cisco router type to provide the suitable cable connection
as mentioned in Table1-1.

It is recommended to keep a copy of the Network Map Design and Tables Pages (Figure 1-
1. table 1-1.and table 1-2) with you in every lab exercise.
