(All sections must be TYPED)
I. LIST OF THREE (3) POTENTIAL BUSINESS IDEAS —5 points *** Due Nov. 6*** 1. Decide whether you would like to work alone or with a partner. 2. Provide a brief description of 3 potential businesses that you are considering. 3. This section must be typed for credit! II. COVER SHEET AND PARTNERSHIP INFORMATION – 10 points ***Due Nov. 13*** 1. Create an original logo for your business (can be hand drawn). 2. Create an original slogan for your business. 3. Create a Mission Statement for your business (what do you want to achieve as a business?). 4. Date and place the company was created. 5. On the back of your cover page, write a short explanation for the origin of your company name (how did you come up with the company name) and an explanation on why this type of business was selected. 6. This section must be typed for credit! III. GENERAL INFORMATION AND MANUFACTURING PLAN –25 points ***Due Dec. 3*** 1. When will you operate your business? (business hours, days, etc) 2. What do you think will be the advantages of your business? 3. What do you think will be the disadvantages of your business? 4. How will your business or product differ from similar businesses? 5. Determine the price(s) for your products and/or services. (How much are consumers willing to pay for a product such as this?) 6. How did you determine this pricing (remember that you will need to cover all of your fixed/variable costs in determining the pricing)? 7. What do you think you will need to get started? (Land, Buildings, Machinery, Raw Materials, Office Furniture, Electronics) i. Look up pricing for your items and fill out the Excel spreadsheet (tab ―expenses‖) on Mr. Unwin’s website titled Entrepreneur Spreadsheets. ii. In Excel, there are tabs at the bottom of the spreadsheet which you can click on to move between different spreadsheets within the same file.
iii. Open the Excel file from the website and save the document to your computer so that you can type in your responses and sum-up your totals. 8. How many employees will you have? Describe each job title’s functions. Estimate their salaries. (Fill out Excel spreadsheet tab ―employees.‖) 9. Will you provide benefits to your employees? (Fill out Excel spreadsheet tab ―benefits.‖) 10. Don’t forget to include the filled-out spreadsheets when turning in part III. 11. This section must be typed for credit!
IV. MARKETING STRATEGY—10 points *** Due Dec. 11*** 1. Describe the recent trends of the market related to your business idea. 2. What methods of advertising will you use (be specific)? 3. Who is your target demographic? 4. Estimate your yearly marketing budget. i. Fill out the Excel spreadsheet tab ―budget‖ to itemize your marketing expenses for the year. Type your responses. 5. Don’t forget to include the filled-out spreadsheet when turning in part IV. 6. This section must be typed for credit!
V. ADVERTISEMENT PRESENTATION—20 points
*** Due Jan. 12*** 1. Choose the type of advertising you would like to present in class. i. TV Commercial ii. Radio Commercial iii. Skit Commercial iv. Billboard v. Webpage (home page) 2. TV, Radio and Skit commercials must be between 30 seconds and 1 minute long. They must be PG-13 and legal in content. Make sure you inform your audience of your product or service’s quality, the product and / or business name, and your slogan. 3. Billboards and WebPages must include your company name, logo, product or service information, slogan and contact information. Make sure your layout is pleasing to the eye. Sloppy, last-minute, and thrown-together projects will receive lower scores. 4. Work hard and be creative! 5. Discuss with Mr. Unwin by Jan. 7th any media accommodations you will need to present your project. If you cannot present your project because you have not made prior arrangements with Mr. Unwin in writing to get the proper media outlet to show your work, you will receive a zero for section V.
VI. ENTREPERNUER INTERVIEW—30 points *** Due Jan. 20*** 1. You must find and interview an entrepreneur that runs the same kind of business you have chosen (or at least as close as possible). i. The interview must be face to face – start early, people are very busy these days! ii. The interviewee must sign a verification form provided by Mr. Unwin. iii. The date and time of the interview must be on your write-up. iv. A business card provided by the interviewee must be attached to your project pages. 2. You must ask a minimum of 15 in-depth questions during your interview. Submit a typed copy of your interview questions and responses. i. Make sure to prepare your questions before your interview and leave room to record the answers. ii. You may use the other sections of this project as a guide for your interview questions. 3. I want to see how your interview changed or reinforced various aspects from section III. What information did the entrepreneur provide that disagreed with your research? 4. Did the interview encourage or discourage you about starting the business? Explain why. 5. This section must be typed for credit!

One emphasis of this course is the factors of production in a market economy, specifically entrepreneurship. The students are required to organize a detailed business plan for a company they may want to create. Part of the process is to interview an entrepreneur in a related field or industry.
