Format for a Cover Letter
Include your address city, state, zip phone number Include date Include name title of person to whom you are writing Greeting/Salutation: Dear Mr./Mrs./Ms./Manager: Paragraph #1 Tell your contact what you want and how you know about the organization. You may open with a question. "Could XYZ Corporation use a manager who's been commended for her organizational abilities in every summer job she's ever held?" OR "Is there a place in RST Cosmetics' marketing department for a person with vision, one who enjoys hard work and is results oriented?" Paragraph #2 Give a concise overview of your work history and the skills you have that will help you perform the job. Paragraph #3 State your confidence in your abilities and give information on how you can be contacted. Include a line expressing appreciation for the individual's attention. Complimentary Closing (Sincerely,)
4 spaces down, type your name 2 spaces down, alert reader that resume is enclosed. (Enclosure) Sign your name in pen (black) between the Complimentary Closing and the typed name line.
