Beyond the Bell will be offering a summer programs at Walnut Hills Elementary and Maple Grove Elementary during the summer of 2008. The program will be open from 6:30 am to 6:00 pm, Monday through Friday, for children entering 1 st through 6 th grade during the 2008 school year. Beyond the Bell is a theme based program with lessons, crafts, field trips, and other activities associated with a weekly theme. Beyond the Bell Summer Program Summer Schedule of Themes June 2-6 Character/Health June 9-13 Wild and Crazy June 16-20 Sports June 23-27 Beach June 30-July 4 USA July 7-11 Fun In the Sun/Water July 14-18 Camping July 21-25 Bugs July 28-Aug. 1 Pets/Zoo August 4-8 Iowa State Fair August 11-15 Back to School Daily Schedule Our hours of operation will be 6:30 – 6:00, Monday-Friday. Our daily schedule will include: a morning and afternoon snack, morning discussion and curriculum time, book time and lunch, and a planned afternoon activity/field trip. You are responsible for bringing a lunch for your child each day, unless otherwise noted. Field trips will be planned for each week in the summer. Cost for field trips is included in the $150. Possible trips include: swimming, parks, zoo, etc. The children will go swimming at various aquatic centers once a week. Children will only be allowed in certain areas and pool depths depending on their swimming ability. On the registration form please indicate which levels best fits your child: ¬ Red- Little or no swimming ability- Child allowed in the “ kiddie pool ” or knee high water only. ¬ Yellow- Some swimming ability- Child allowed in water chest high. ¬ Green- Great swimming ability- Child allowed in deep water, including diving boards, etc.. o Child in a green level must pass a swim test before being allowed in all areas. The following fees will be effective for the Summer 2008 program. $150/ week for 1 st Child $112.50/ week for 2 nd Child A $20 nonrefundable deposit per family is required at the time of registration for each week that your child/children will be attending Beyond the Bell. Payment will be due on the 1 st of each month, minus your deposit. For example, if you sign up for 3 weeks in June, your deposit will be $60. On June 1 st, you will owe $450-$60=$390. If you sign up for a week and you choose for your child not to attend, no refund will be made. Beyond the Bell Summer program will provide a safe, fun, and positive environment for children as well as for parents. Staff will be positive role models that will help each child benefit and grow through social interaction. We will provide open communication between the parents and staff to ensure that each child’s needs are met on a daily basis. Our policies will be the same as when Beyond the Bell is open during the school year. Please refer to the parent handbook found on the Child Care Services page on the Waukee School District website. Each child will be given a certain colored bracelet based on a swim level given below. Each color will have restrictions where the child can go with in the swimming pool or aquatic center. Please Check one of the following regarding your child and sign the bottom. _____ Red Bracelet (Level 1)- Child has little or no swimming experience. Only allowed in water waist high or “kiddie pool ” area. _____ Yellow Bracelet (Level 2)- Child has limited swimming experience. Only allowed in water up to 5 feet high. _____ Green Bracelet (Level 3)- Child has satisfactory swimming experience. Child can go in any height water including diving boards, drop off slides, and deep ends. Note: Child must also pass a swim test with Beyond the Bell staff in order to get a green bracelet. I understand that Beyond the Bell staff reserves the right to put my child in a lower level than what is marked above, but under no circumstances will my child be put in a higher level than what is marked above without my permission.
