Do simple/compound interest simulation in groups of 3 or 4 w/beans. Here students will figure whether simple or compound interest will be best for them. 3) Research on net and find a news article or 7 facts on money or savings or interest. Have students go back to WebCT and post their findings on the discussion board. Here students need to follow a rubric with proper spelling, grammar, punctuation, and write at least 8 sentences. They must also respond to at least 2 other student’s presentations on the discussion board.

PART TWO: The Tablet PC will help in many ways. The Pre-Test assessment can be transferred on WebCt, by using the assessment section, and students could find and assess quickly their own responses and the correct ones. This will provide an excellent feedback and discussion tool to find out how much they know and how much more there is to learn.

Questions:
1. The Pre-Test will have to be manually loaded to the assessments section of WebCT, the ink tools can be great for discussing basic items of importance and what they will learn and what they will need to know. The discussion board will have to be pre-set with the basic question of: What information/facts on money financing did you research? Place the important info and post your findings to the board. Respond to at least 3 other boards with the rubrics content listed above. 2. The students will receive the Pre-Test within the assessment section of WebCT and complete it, and discuss the important things they will learn this semester. The discussion board will also be utilized in #1 above. 3. During the lesson presentation, they will be engaged fully, either taking or discussing the Pre-Test, completing the Simple/Compound interest simulation in groups (by hand), then researching the finding a news story or facts, and using the discussion board. 4. The student portion will be submitted by downloading the Pre-test and researching and using the discussion board. 5. I will evaluate student work by using the assessment sections for quizzes and tests, giving notes, and using the discussion board on topics directly related to the unit. 6. I will finish discussions on the discussion board by „summarizing‟ the main points and pointing out some of the better information listed. The assessments on WebCT will be corrected when they finish, so they may see what their score is immediately, and be able to provide instant feedback when everyone is done. 7. Yes, the lids will be down when we are doing „in-class‟ simulations such as the Compound/Simple Interest with beans! 8. The challenges will be putting the assessments on WebCT so they will be available when needed. They will all have to be put in manually. There will be a challenge in integrating WebCT with Smart Board so they will be even more „interactive‟ with students. There will also need to be more „classroom rules‟ for using the different types of technology, and what will be expected of them in your class. 9. This lesson is very „repeatable‟. The basics of saving and investing are very important in Personal Finance. The Pre-Test will show what the students know right now, and then show them the correct answers, and use that as a discussion or notes. The discussion board can be used for most assignments (at least one a week) with regularity. 10. Other considerations would be: 1) how can this be used in conjunction with Smart Board? How can this be used going to a investment website such as Yahoo! Finance so that notes and discussions can take place when we are talking about stocks, bonds, mutual funds, etc
