Terms to Know!
• Army Civilian Resume Builder: a database that anyone can use to create and edit a resume and then submit that resume to the Centralized Resumix Database. • Centralized Resumix Database: where an applicant’s resume has to be on file for consideration for RESUMIX announcements • ANSWER: (Applicant Notification System Web-Enabled Response); the place where applicants can view their resume and supplemental data and also view the status of 3 selfnominations that have been submitted
The Resume Builder is a database just for you, for your use, to build and edit your resume! (CPOC personnel cannot access your resume in the Resume Builder.)

STEPS TO RECEIVE CONSIDERATION UNDER CENTRALIZED RESUMIX
• STEP 1 - Create resume using Resume Builder and submit it (applicant) • STEP 2 - If interested in a specific announcement, submit a self -nomination. (applicant) • STEP 3 - Referral Process (CPOC) • STEP 4 - Use ANSWER to get feedback (applicant)

•Create your Resume using the Resume Builder and SAVE it to the Resume Builder Database
•Submit your resume to the Centralized Resumix Database that is currently utilized by all CPOC’s

PREPARING YOUR RESUME
• ARMY’S RESUME BUILDER is the preferred method.
– Point and click w/drop down menus – One process for resume and supplemental data – Customer friendly with lots of aids
• Other methods: All job announcements will point applicants to the Army Job Kit on CPOL to follow instructions for email and hard-copy submissions

SUBMIT A SELF - NOMINATION
**To be considered for a Resumix announcement, you must have your resume on file in the Centralized Resumix Database and you must submit a selfnomination. Both of these steps must be completed by midnight of the closing date!**

• Easy Way - Use the SELFNOM button located at the bottom of the Army Vacancy Announcement
• Hard Way 1 - E-mail your Self Nomination to the Centralized Resume Processing Center (CRPC) at selfnom@cpsrxtp.belvoir.army.mil Do not submit as an attachment. Cut and paste into body of E-mail • Hard Way 2 - FAX to the Centralized Resume Processing Center (CRPC) at 410-306-0229

**After you SAVE your resume, there is another step. We suggest that you go back on your browser and select “Display Existing Resume” from the menu page. Review your resume, make sure it is ready, then go back on your browser and select “Send Out Existing Resume”.** 36

**Whenever you submit an inquiry to any of these locations, it is absolutely necessary for you to include your full name, social security number, and a phone number where you can be reached. If your question is related to an announcement, you must include the number of that announcement.**

Q. Why should I use the Army Resume Builder? A. The use of the Army Resume Builder ensures that your resume is developed in a uniform manner and conforms to the proper format for processing.
Q. How do I find the Army Resume Builder? A. The Army Resume Builder can be accessed through the Army Home Page at www.cpol.army.mil. At the Home Page 41 click on Employment and then Resume Builder.

Q. How will I know that my resume has been processed? A. Once you have completed your resume using the Army Resume Builder you will be prompted to save your resume. A button will appear which enables you to save your resume to the Army database. Once saved you will then be prompted to send your resume to a specific Civilian Personnel Operations Center for consideration for specific job vacancies. Please be sure to follow the instructions! You can then check ANSWER to see if your resume has been received and processed. 42

Q. How can I change or update my resume? A. Log on the Army Home Page at www.cpol.army.mil, click on Employment and then select Edit existing resume from the menu. You will have to log into the system using your User Id and PIN. Once you enter the User Id, PIN, and SSN your existing resume will be retrieved from the database and you can edit any or all of the information. DON’T FORGET TO SAVE CHANGES. Once you have completed this step you will then be prompted to send your resume to a specific Civilian Personnel Operation Center. 43

Q. WHAT HAPPENS IF I LOSE MY PASSWORD! A. The Army’s Resume Builder and ANSWER use the same ID and password. Both applications have a password retrieval feature. It is EXTREMELY important for you to remember your Userid, Pin and your “hint” question!
Q. How can I track what jobs I have been considered for, was I referred, and what happened to the job I was interested in? A. Log on the Army Home Page at www.cpol.army.mil, click on Employment and then select ANSWER. Click on the Jobs Applied tab, then click on the Selfnoms Recvd tab to verify your selfnom was recvd. Click on the View Status tab to view the status of each selfnom.

Q. Do I need to provide supporting documentation to the CPOC? A.NO, supporting documentation is not required when you selfnominate. For example: duplicate copies of the resume, DD214’s, SF50;s, transcripts, etc. will not be required until a selection is made. Once contact has been made to the selectee, the documentation will be requested at that time.
