Changed Features in Version 5.12
FLSA Exemption Tester
The U.S. Department of Labor has revised the “white collar” exemptions to the Fair Labor Standards Act (FLSA). The Descriptions Now Exemption Tester has been replaced with a link to FLSA information to help you with some of the issues in determining FLSA exemption from overtime requirements.
Changed Features in Version 5.11
Browser Warning Message
Customers using Internet Explorer (IE) 6 or higher will no longer see a warning message when they start the program. The message only appears if you are using Internet Explorer 5 or less.
Top Margin
The top margin of printed job descriptions now matches the top margin in previous versions.
Changed Features in Version 5.10
Administration Rights - NT/2000 Systems
When Descriptions Now is installed on a 2000 or NT system, and the user does not have administrator rights on his/her system, an error message is received; Unable to access registry. In version 5.1, the user can now run the program without administrative rights.
ActiveX Component - Conversion Issue
When attempting to convert from 4.0 to 5.0, user receives an error message; Active component can't create object. The conversion program now works properly in version 5.1.
Default Directory
When opening Descriptions Now 5.0, the program now defaults to the directory where user data is stored.

Work Environment - Screen 3
The last screen in work environment now saves all changes that have been entered in version 5.1.
Mapper.exe - Invalid UNC Path
If you installed Descriptions Now on a network, some users may need different paths to get to the KnowledgePoint Multi-User Administrator. When using Mapper.exe to define these alternate paths to the Administrator Database, an error message displays saying the path is invalid (for example, \\Cooter\Cooter\Inetpub\Kpoint\Data). This has been corrected in version 5.1.
Indiana Now Included in Registration
Indiana was not previously included in the list of states on the registration form. This has been corrected in version 5.1.
Job Description Form - Format Changes
The following format changes were made to the Job Description Form in version 5.1: Space between title and colon in the job information section was removed. Colons have been deleted from all section titles. Line spaces have been added between the competencies. Spacing between sections has been changed to one line instead of two.
In addition, the default settings for left and right margins, the font size, and the spelling of the word Competency are available in a separate update called DN510DBSettings.exe. If you customized the left and right margins or the font size, do not install this extra update. Installing the extra update will reset the values as follows: * Left and right margins are 1.00" * Default font is Times New Roman 11 point. * The Competency section title has been renamed Competencies.
To update the default settings: 1. Locate the program called DN510DBSettings.exe in the same folder where you downloaded the version 5.1 update. 2. Double-click the program called DN510DBSettings.exe. The default values for the margins, the font size, and word Competencies are now reset.

Converting from Descriptions Now Version 3.x and 4.x
Job description and questionnaire files do not need to be converted. However, the configuration files DESNOW.INI and .INI need to be renamed for the new version. This is done by the conversion program. If Descriptions Now 5.0 has been installed in a new directory, you will need to copy the job description and questionnaire files to the new location.
