Free Small Business Assistance Available
Free assistance and counseling are available to Dayton-area entrepreneurs to help with start-up, operation and expansion of small businesses. Services provided by SCORE, a non-profit utilizing the volunteer help of established business professionals, include one-on-one counseling, online counseling, workshops, resource development and networking. Areas of assistance include raising capital, business planning, marketing, financial management, technology and even disaster preparedness. During its 2007 fiscal year, the Dayton chapter of SCORE assisted more than 500 entrepreneurs in face-to-face sessions and conducted more than 400 online sessions. Nearly 600 attended the chapter’s 46 business workshops. SCORE was founded in 1964 and assists hundreds of thousands of business people annually through 389 chapters. Though not a government organization, SCORE is a resource partner of the federal Small Business Administration.
