Getting to Cradle Mountain From northern Tasmania: Cradle Mountain is a comfortable two-hour drive from Launceston on the Bass Highway via Elizabeth Town (through Sheffield), or 1.5 hours from Devonport via Sheffield, then turning off to Cradle Mountain. From Strahan Take the A10 North through the historic mining towns of Zeehan and Rosebery – it’s about a 1.5 hour drive. From Hobart: Take the Midlands Highway (1) through Campbell Town, turn left at Perth then take the Bass Highway (1), turning left at Elizabeth town to Sheffield, then turning off to Cradle Mountain. By air Air Connections via Launceston and Hobart (Qantas, Virgin Blue and Jetstar), Devonport and Burne (Jetstar and Regional Air Express). Freycinet Air Charter Service is also available from Hobart or Launceston. By sea The Spirit of Tasmania I and II sails between Melbourne and Devonport daily. The Spirit III sails from Sydney to Devonport with limited departures. Car Hire Hire cars can be arranged in Hobart, Launceston, Devonport or other regional centres.
