Rules: All Scout Leaders participating in Webelos Alley must be trained in recognizing the symptoms of, prevention of, and treatment of hypothermia and frostbite. All participants must be wearing appropriate cold/wet weather clothing. Sneakers are not allowed. Webelos dens register their sleds in Manning Hall (the old dining hall) and receive their orders and a map. Before starting on the rest of the Webelos Alley course, dens are asked to go through the sled inspection station. Dens will then proceed around the Webelos Alley course, visiting each station and optionally the Klondike Derby stations as described in their orders. Stations will be open for visiting by 9:00. Stations will close to new check-ins at 1:00. Plan on returning Manning Hall for awards at 2:00! There is limited parking space, so please car pool. Vehicles will have to drop off the sleds and their passengers and then move out to parking. Close-in parking is being provided for the Webelos units. Den Information Equipment List Sled Specifications: Each den should have one or more sleds. The sled must carry all of your Webelos Alley equipment. The sled must not rely on wheels. If there is not sufficient snow, wheeled sleds, travois, slings or backpacks may be used. If you can, have a den flag and pack number, which you display on the sled. Equipment List: Normally the Webelos stations have all the materials needed to try a station. Bring the basics for keeping warm. Two (2) camp-style blankets Latrines are open, but not stocked with toilet paper. A notebook and two (2) pencils or pens Minimum of one (1) quart of water per Scout (2 quarts recommended); wide mouth jugs work better if the water starts to freeze Every member of the Patrol must have the proper footwear for snow and/or mud see the Klondike Patrol check in form for more details. · No sneakers Scout Spirit Depending on schedule, you can purchase lunch from the OA Cafe in Manning Hall. If you are cooking, provide a hot balanced meal for each member of the den Soup is a good choice provided it contains meat and vegetables; be aware cans may freeze. Utensils for cooking Hot drink for each Scout A cup and eating utensils for each Scout Pot to heat water or cocoa Adequate clean-up material for cooking, soap to wash hands Fuel for lunch; all fuel must be natural materials (wood) - No charcoal, liquid fuel or gaseous fuels. A portable stove may also be used. · All fires must be built above the ground in a trash can lid, wheelbarrow body or similar fireproof fixture - no ground fires Matches A trash bag for all wood, paper, garbage, ashes, etc; this is a pack in/pack out event!
