                       SPECIFICATION FOR PURCHASE OF
                       CARBON STEEL PIPE AND FITTINGS
                FOR INSTALLATION OF AMMONIA PIPING SYSTEMS
                        IN ACCORDANCE 1987 ANSI B31.5A

PIPE:

All pipe is to be ASTM A53 ERW Grade A or B Type E, or A106 Seamless Grade A or B Type
    S. No A120, A53 Grade F, or unmarked pipe material will be accepted.

1. All pipe is to be clean and free of debris & loose rust, and capped. Rust easily removable by
   oiled burlap pulled through the pipe will be permitted in 4” and larger sizes.
2. All pipe 4” and smaller is to be banded in 2000# bundles for unloading.
3. All pipe must be loaded on trucks in such a manner as to permit safe unloading.
4. All pipe must be clearly stenciled with the name of the manufacturer & the pipe specification.
5. All pipe larger than 2” is to be standard weight, or Schedule 40.
6. All pipe 2” and smaller is to be Schedule 80, A106 Seamless pipe.
7. All A106 seamless pipe is to be identified by mill applied blue paint.
8. All A53 A or B is to be identified with field applied YELLOW paint after the pipe has been
   inspected and accepted at time of unloading.
9. Packing lists are to be clearly signed by the AC & R employee accepting the materials.


FITTINGS:

1. All fittings 2” and larger are to be butt weld, as manufactured by Weld Bend, Ladish, or
   approved equal. ASTM - A234.
2. Smaller than 2” fittings are to be Schedule 80, equal to above. ASTM - A234
3. Fittings 1-1/2” and smaller are to be 3000# forged steel socket weld, or 2000# forged steel
   FPT, as specified. ASTM - A105
GENERAL:

1. All pricing is to be FOB destination

2. Unless written approval is received from AC & R prior to shipment, a 20% handling fee for
   backorders or partial shipment will be deducted from submitted invoicing.

3. There will be no common Packing/banding of refrigeration & non-refrigeration materials

4. No A53/A120 black pipe is to be used for any job where pipe can be mixed with refrigeration
   material, or where there is any chance to be returned to stock.

5. No A53/A120 black pipe is ever to be on the site of a refrigeration job, the shop, or in
   our stock at any time.
