					        The NSW Government’s Environmental Trust invites applications
                   to the grant programs detailed below.
  All grant programs open 21 March 2009 however closing dates are staggered. See below.
                              Environmental Research
                   (Total program funds for Research Program $1 million)
  Two-stage application process – Expression of Interest then application by invitation only
                     for the major and minor research grant categories.
        Major category – Grants up to $200,000 - Hazardous Substances & Waste.
                Scientific, social and economic proposals will be considered.
Minor categories – Grants up to $100,000 – Waters & Catchments and Environmental Noise.
                      Seeding grants – one stage application process.
                     Grants up to $20,000 for ‘proof of concept’ projects.
    Grants available in the categories Air, Biodiversity, Hazardous Substances & Waste,
                      Waters & Catchments and Environmental Noise.
         Available to community organisations, universities and research institutes.
                             Environmental Education
  Two-stage application process – Expression of Interest then application by invitation only
                         Grants of $5,000 to $100,000 available to:
      Community organisations and non-profit associations (total program $500,000)
     State and local government organisations (not schools) (total program $500,000)
Closing date for Research and Education expressions of interest and Research
                 Seeding Grant applications 5pm 24 April 2009
  Urban Sustainability Seed Funding for Sustainability Planning
        Grants of $20,000 for individual councils, and $50,000 for alliances of councils
                                   (total program $500,000)
     Closing date for Seed Funding for Sustainability Planning applications
                              5pm 15 May 2009
                                       Eco Schools
                    60 grants of $2,500 each (total program $150,000).
   Schools who did not receive an Environmental Trust grant in 2008 are eligible to apply.
                   Closing date for Eco Schools 5pm 22 May 2009
              Environmental Restoration and Rehabilitation
                       Grants of $5,000 to $100,000 available to:
      Community organisations and non-profit associations (total program $1.5 million)
          State and local government organisations (total program $1.5 million)
        Closing date for Restoration and Rehabilitation 5pm 29 May 2009
                                Protecting our Places
                                 Grants of $2,000 to $35,000
    Available to any Aboriginal community group or organisation (total program $500,000)
                   LEAD ENVIRONMENTAL COMMUNITY GROUPS
       Grants of up to $80,000 per year are available to lead environmental community
                 organisations to contribute towards their administrative costs.
    Strict organisational eligibility requirements apply. See program guidelines for details.
                        (total program $600,000 per year over 3 years)
                   Closing date for Protecting our Places and
             Lead Environmental Community Groups 5pm 5 June 2009
                                       Workshops
Workshops for the Protecting our Places program are advertised in Indigenous newspapers.
       Workshops focussing on the Eco Schools Program will be offered in 2009.

                          Other Funding Opportunities
  Round 2 of the NSW Climate Change Fund Public Facilities Program is also open now for
water and energy saving projects in community and public facilities. Closing date 30 April 2009
