 When it comes to biological warfare and outbreaks, it is best to block yourself and people
around you from developing a bad virus or sickness. N95 masks and respirators give you a
block from harmful viruses present in the air.

 N95 masks and respirators give you a block from breathing in harmful elements such as swine
flu. However, recent finding have concluded that some of the cheaper paper-made masks are
ineffective in blocking out harmful air contaminants, and more specifically, swine flu. There are
however different types of N95's; like respirators that block out 95% of contaminants.

 The paper-mask types of respirators are said to be effective for things like mowing the lawn,
working in a medical setting, and removing paint chips and drywall. However, many believe that
they should not be utilized for outbreaks of epidemic or pandemic proportions. N95 face masks
are sometimes made of paper that becomes more ineffective as sweat, dust, and other dirt get
onto the mask. Also, many of these cheaper masks are made to be disposable after one use;
some people push it and try to use the mask more than once. Many pundits say that diseases
and certain types of biological weapons can only be blocked out by the use of an N95
respirator.

 The N95 respirator is made by several different brands. The most important thing when
choosing a N95 respirator is to ensure that it is stamped with NIOSH N95 on the package.

is said to block out particles of tuberculosis and anthrax spores. The ability to block is said to be
very high in the N95 respirator because it is capable in blocking out almost everything; where
other methods of masking and blocking are not as effective. Respirators are build to handle
much tinier particles and are made from material that lasts and does not break down and come
apart; this is a fact that sets respirators apart from masks.

 The N95 masks and respirators, today, are said to be worthless against a chemical or gas
attack. People in the industry say that there are respirators that can handle gas and chemical
pollutants but they are rather expensive and as such not available to everyone. Whether using
paper mask or something else, the fit around the nose is most important in blocking one's self
viruses and other dangerous things in the air. Some people suggest that you seal the mask or
respirator around the mouth and nose to ensure no entryway for these harmful vapors.

 N95 masks and respirators are great in blocking out harmful elements. Whether there is an
epidemic outbreak or a area hit with a chemical bomb, you are much better off if you wear a
N95 mask or respirator. Blocking your nose and mouth from airborne diseases can result in life
or death depending on how serious the threat. But all in all - you are better safe than sorry. You
are much better off wearing the mask or respirator than not wearing it.
