 Intern in the AP bureau in San Juan, Puerto Rico, which covers more than 20 countries and territories in
the Caribbean and South America. Included writing breaking news and enterprise stories, as well as
editing content from stringers and translating stories from our Spanish desk. Because the bureau covers

 Intern for the features section of the daily metro newspaper (daily circulation approx. 200,000) for two
years. Developed story ideas in a variety of departments, including food, fashion, home and garden, and
arts content. Wrote stories that appeared in the metro and business sections, as well as the front page.
Kentucky Kernel, Lexington, Ky. (November 2006 – May 2009)

school year. Responsibilities included producing story ideas, editing stories and working 50 or more
hours a week. Also wrote three to four times a week from 2006 to 2009, covering university
administration, state politics and longer enterprise work. Shot feature and news pictures.
