GABRIEL GATE’S TASTE OF NEW CALEDONIA New Caledonia - this small corner of France in the South Pacific - is so close to Australia: just 2 hours flight from Brisbane and under 3 hours from Sydney. It is a trip to the less familiar, the different Pacific Island with beautiful weather, beaches & palm trees and also European style. Gabriel Gaté on beautiful Kanumera Beach on the Isle of Pines Gabriel Gate: Chef with international reputation, cookery author, TV presenter and cookery teacher. Born in France in 1955 he served his apprenticeship with Albert Augere - known in the Loire region as the best chef in the area- Gabriel worked at famous Paris restaurant Prunier , at the Berkeley Hotel in London and back in France after his military service with Chef Alain Senderens at his Parisian 3-Star restaurant. Gabriel came to Australia with his Melbourne born wife and established himself as a leading influence in the way Australians cook today. He has participated as show presenter on Fun in the kitchen (Ch 7) The cook food show (ABC) What’s cooking (Ch 9) And presented cookery segments on many lifestyle shows: Taste Le Tour (SBS) Good Morning Australia (Ch 10), Everybody (ABC) and Body & Soul (Ch 9).
