Food Lovers’ Tour
of Korea 12 October
Departing 12 October 2008 Arrive Incheon
International Airport,
meet your guide and transfer
to your deluxe accommodation.
13 October (B L)
Following breakfast, your guide will escort
you to a Korean Cuisine cooking class where
you will be taught how to make Kimchi and
Bulgogi. This is a 2 hour-long course consisting
of 2 parts, a lecture and cooking experience with
tasting and evaluation. Lunch is your own cooking
with steamed rice and a dessert provided. At the
conclusion of the course you will be presented with
a cookery book and a certificate.
This afternoon enjoy a tour of Seoul, visiting
Gyeongbok Palace, built in 1394 as a primary
residence for the royal family, the National
Folk Museum which explains the religious
rituals, housing customs, household
tools, housing implements, food and
the social dynamics of Korean
14 October (B D) life. Take a stroll down
Today we transfer to Insadong Antique Street

Accommodation tonight is the 4 star Jeonju
Riveria Core Hotel or similar.
15 October (B D)
Morning departure for Gwangju. A stop will be
made at Mt Naejangsan National Park where you
will see the autumn leaves in full colours of red,
brown and gold. Upon arrival at Gwanju visit the
Kimchi Festival. The Prado Hotel or similar is the
deluxe accommodation for the stay in Gwangju.

Full day at the 2008 Gwangju Kimchi Festival.
Traditionally Kimchi is made in the latter part of the
year and is stored in large earthenware pots where
the fermenting takes place. It is said that when a
young man brings his lady home to meet the family,
she is asked to prepare Kimchi and if it is to the
satisfaction of the young mans’ mother then the
lady in question is accepted into the family. There
are some 160 varieties of Kimchi.
17 October (B D)
Before returning to Seoul
a visit will be made to the
Boseong green tea plantation.
Here you will be able to taste
different types of tea and enjoy a
green tea ice-cream, my favourite.
A Tea Ceremony will also be held.
Dinner tonight is at a local restaurant, which
specializes in Korean Ginseng Chicken Soup.
18 October (B L)
This morning you visit Hwaseong Fortress and Palace.
The Fortress was planned in 1789 by the 22nd King of
the Joseon Dynasty when he moved the tomb of his
father from the Yangju to Mt Hwasan. It sprawls over
both flat and hilly terrain and was designed for military
purposes. Your lunch today is Korean style barbecued
beef rib. Following lunch visit Everland, a magnificent
garden where a Chrysanthemum Festival is being
celebrated. Tonight you will attend Nanta a non-verbal
performance that will have your feet tapping and your
hands clapping.
19 October (B)
At leisure till your mid afternoon departure to
Incheon International Airport.
20 October
