You are invited to participate in a one- day seminar and a one day follow-up workshop on the design of rain
garden (biofiltration) systems with EDAW and FAWB. This workshop provides a unique once-off opportunity to
tap into world-class research and techniques to practically address water-quality issues.

               Cost:           Day 1 - $150 per person (GST inclusive)
                               Day 1 & 2 - $500 per person (GST inclusive)
                               Cost includes catering, information packs and training materials

                                   Day 1 – Seminar
                                   Presenters: Ana Deletic and Tim Fletcher

                                   Day 1 examines rain garden (biofiltration system) research and implementation
                                   techniques. Topics include:
                                       • research activities of FAWB and their contribution to improving water
                                           sensitive urban design (WSUD)
                                       • rain garden/biofiltration system design configurations
                                       • media selection, sizing and plant selection
                                       • design enhancements (SAZ, exfiltration, additives)
                                       • testing performance
                                       • observations of rain gardens/biofiltration systems in different soil types and
                                           hydrological conditions

                                   Day 2 – Project-based workshop
                                   Presenter: Peter Breen

                                   Day 2 offers an opportunity to have your individual projects reviewed and discussed
                                   with leading professionals in the industry. Topics include:
                                      • designing rain gardens for your situation
                                      • sizing and design attributes
                                      • construction
                                      • Soil media and drainage layer
                                      • vegetation selection
                                      • maintenance and management
                                      • facilitated workshops during the day using your own projects:
                                          − developing stormwater treatment using rain gardens
                                          − tackling retrofit or greenfield sites
                                          − overcoming technical challenges and site restraints.

                                   Please note that the day 1 seminar is a prerequisite for the day 2 workshop.
