2009 Representative Duties Port City Hockey Clubs Australian & NSW Hockey Representatives All at Port City Hockey club congratulate players Dennis Lisk, Russell Clucas and Bruce Snape on their representative honours for this year. Bruce and Russell have been selected to play in the O/55 NSW Team. Both also have the honour of being selected and playing for their country in the O/55 Australian Team. This team will be touring Hong Kong later in the year and we wish them all the best of luck. Bruce has also been selected as the Captain of the NSW team. Dennis Lisk also gained selection to play for NSW once again this year. Dennis will represent NSW in the O/60 team. Congratulations also to Dennis. Dennis Lisk (Left) representing NSW in the O'60 category and Russell Clucas (Right) Representing Australia in the O/55 category Congratulations to Port Macquarie Hastings Hockey Team - NSW O40's Runners Up at the recent NSW State Championships Port City's O40's representatives from left to right - Steve Trickett, Ian Anquetil, Allan Baker, Gareth Sawyer, Dion Shoesmith (Goal Keeper), Ken Little (Manager), Simon Thresher (Umpire - note he's not over 40...!!!) Brett Thurgate, Ross Charlton May 29th saw nine of Port City Hockey Clubs men's players represent the club, and indeed the association, at the recent over 40's veterans hockey tournament on the Central Coast. The Port Macquarie team was beaten in a gallant effort in a very tightly fought final of the C Division. The victors were Wagga Wagga and beat our team by three goals to one. 2009 Women's Veterans – Various Age Groups Congratulations to all our women's players who represented the region at the recent NSW Women’s Veterans carnival in Taree Over 35’s Hastings Team - Joint Winners The over 35’s Hastings Women’s Hockey team had yet another very successful tournament at the NSW State Veterans Championships. Over the 2½ days, the team of only 11 players were undefeated, conceding only 2 goals all weekend. The final score in the decider was 1-1 and a joint premiership was awarded. Well done to the following Port City players; Kirsty Netzler, Megan Anquetil, Dolly Bligh- Jones (Manageress & Supersub), and Julie Burgmann.Special mention to team manager Dolly Bligh-Jones who went above and beyond the role expected of her. Over 45's Team - Outright Winners The side played 5 games with 3 wins & 2 draws. 11 goals being scored and only allowed 2 goals against them - sometimes with only 11 players on the card - dam injuries (not age!) The ladies team beat the web-masters old Sydney Club Ryde Eastwood to emerge victors in the final 2-1. The Port City players in this team were; Wendy Welsh, Carol Wright, Simone Cooke, Kym Trickett, Donna Antilla and Cindy Younie. Over 50’s Team - Semi Finalists After a tournament of mixed results, the Over 50’s team played in their Semi- final only to be defeated by the Newcastle team they had met earlier in the tournament. At the end of full time in this match a penalty corner was awarded and had to be played out. This play led to another penalty corner, during which the Newcastle team scored their winning goal. A great effort from the self titled "Oldies." Port City Hockey Club was duly represented by; Dorrit Reynolds and Helen Carpenter.
