Our PFI design and construction partners on site, Balfour Beatty have again
gone the extra mile for the Children’s Unit.

On Wednesday 23 December, the Children’s Unit received a huge donation of
toys and gifts which had been collected by Balfour Beatty. The team spent
five weeks collecting over 100 gifts and some play equipment for the unit
which were most gratefully received.

Ryan Smith, Project Manager, Balfour Beatty Engineering Services said: “We
have built up a good relationship with the hospital and it is important to us to
maintain this relationship. For a cause as important as the Children’s Unit,
everyone is prepared to go the extra mile. We have already started work on
next years Christmas present, a brand new hospital!”

Angela Upsall, Hospital Play Specialist added: “We really appreciate all the
hard work and effort it has taken to raise the money to buy these presents.
We are also grateful for the toys we have received which can be used on the
unit. We hope that all the staff at Balfour Beatty have a lovely Christmas and
Happy New Year, love from all the children and staff at Tameside Hospital.”
