Invent Now Kids presents Camp Invention
Coming to Washington Co. Elementary
June 14-18 9 am-3:30 pm
Invent Now Kids proudly presents the wonder and excitement of the Camp Invention
program. Led by local educators, this engaging program immerses children in grades 1-6
in hands-on inquiry based activities disguised as fun.

B.L.A.S.T. for 4th/5th graders coming March 20th at NWES- Intermediate students were given
forms for this event a few weeks ago. This is a great opportunity for them to meet students from other schools
in the county as well as to have fun while learning some valuable information on staying safe and healthy.
There is a $5.00 registration fee, but students will get a free meal and t-shirt. If you would like a new form or
more information, please contact Donya Stevens at NWES.

Become an Author reminder for March 4th from 6:00-7:30- An invitation was sent home
last week for you and your family to join us this Thursday evening to create a book using the
Klutz BuildaBook Kit and to hear some great storytelling and sharing of books by NWES Li-
brarian, Mr. Dugger. There is a cost of $3.50 per kit. If you haven’t registered yet, please com-
plete the Parent Workshop registration on the front of the newsletter or call Donya Stevens at
375-4038. Book Fair will also be open that evening from 5:00-8:00 PM.
ADHD Parent Workshop– Susan Campbell Turner, School Therapist, will facilitate an ADHD parent
meeting this Wednesday, March 3rd, from 9:00-Noon at Washington FRYSC at Washington County
Elementary School.
Cradle School-The North Washington FRYSC and Washington County FRYSC will be providing Cradle
School for children age 2 or 3 and their parents on April 16, 23, 30, and May 7, 2010 at North Washington Ele-
mentary School. The sessions will be from 10:00-11:30 am. Cradle School is an opportunity for parents and
children to become familiar with the Preschool atmosphere and with learning educational and emotional interac-
tion skills. This is also an excellent time for children to experience meeting and playing with other children
their age. Cradle School is open to all parents and children living in Washington County. If you have any ques-
tions or would like more information, please contact Donya Stevens at 375-4038. Registration is due April
13th.
Active Parenting-Parents of children ages 5-12 are invited to attend Active Parenting Sessions being facili-
tated by School Therapist, Harriet Boone, on March 16, March 22, March 30 from 5:30-7:30.
This series combines videos, activities and discussion to help parents raise responsible children who are able to
resist negative peer pressure. The program also demonstrates effective discipline techniques for parents. We
feel this is a great opportunity for families to learn and practice skills to help raise children who are able to
make good choices and decisions for their future.
Family Budgeting Workshop presented by Commonwealth Credit Union-On March 22nd
from 6:00-7:30 at Washington County Elementary School Library, the FRYSC programs are sponsoring a help-
ful tips budgeting class. Topics will include understanding needs versus wants, determining your spending pat-
tern, fixed and variable expenses and ways to avoid scams.

February Students of the Month
8th Grader- Christopher Morrison
Christopher Morrison is the eighth grade student of the month. He is
the son of Martha Morrison of Springfield and Eric Morrison of Pikeville.
He likes all of his teachers and preferred not to select a favorite. His
favorite classes are Science and Social Studies.
The school activities he enjoys most are FCA and Jr. Beta. He likes
seeing his friends at school.
His special interests include playing sports.
7th Grader- Matthew Lee
Matthew Lee is the seventh grade student of the month. He is the
son of Kathy and Joey Smith of Springfield and Glenn Lee of Raywick.
His favorite teacher is Mr. Burns, and his favorite classes are P.E.
and Math. He likes recess and hanging out with his friends at school.
His special interests include hunting and riding 4-wheelers.

6 Grader- Kayleigh Flanagan
Kayleigh Flanagan is the sixth grade student of the month. She is
the daughter of Sean and Meg Flanagan of Springfield.
Her favorite teachers are Mr. Burns and Ms. Mattingly, and her favorite
classes are Math and Science.
The school activity she enjoys most is band. She enjoys hanging out
with friends at school.
Her special interests include riding horses and hunting.
