In this respect, images are more precise and richer than literature.” John Berger In this course you will be expected to: Carefully, creatively and open mindedly reflect upon works of art Practice through reading, speaking and writing ways to understand art’s meaning Effectively communicate interpretations of artwork Notebook Binder with sections for: 1. Class Notes 2. Art in Focus and Double Bubble handouts 3. Powerpoints 4. Vocabulary Folder 1. To hold handouts and study aids to help you remember the pictures Since this is a survey course covering a huge expanse of time, staying organized will be important to your success. Grades 25% Class participation, HW and POWERPOINT 50% Tests 25% Quizzes and Writing exercises (usually one page essays, sometimes longer) Plagiarism Plagiarism means to take someone else’s ideas or words as your own, whether intentionally or not. The expectation in all of your classes is that you will demonstrate academic integrity. Plagiarizing in this course is unacceptable and would affect your class grade as well as requiring further disciplinary action.
